Mission was Alpha Cleanse
Board was forested area, with a forest in each corner, one in each of the long board sides, and a small one in the middle.
He won board edge, and gave me the one with the bigest forest. Put defiler in the middle, and everything else gathered around to either side. Pred was all the way in the back of his quarter.
I set up everything far back in the forest. GL IST's and Vindicare to the middle, outside of the forest and the other chimera on the north edge of the forest. One Daemonhost with each group. Speeders and assault troops were behind the forest, out of sight.
I win first turn, and give it to him. He advances everything except the Pred. Bikes don't turboboost, but move to flank.
Shooting from the defiler kills one marine, and the Pred kills the one dev marine that was in range, and some beserkers do 2 wounds to the southern daemonhost.
I roll Warp Strength with both my Daemonhosts and advance them. Shooting picks off a couple beserkers, nothing major. One of the 8 man units are reduced to 3 or 4, the other to 6. Vindicare misses with the hellfire round.
I then assault with each daemonhost. Both hit the (formerly) 8 man beserker squads. The northern one kills all 4 that were in the kill zone (Including the AC), and they did nothing back. The southern one takes another wound, but takes out everyone except the AC.
His Turn two, both packs of Daemons come on. He moves up to surround my Northern Daemonhost with both daemon packs, the lord, and the big squad of beserkers. The Pred moves 6" out of the cover it was in so it could shoot. The bikes move into a narrow area between the forest and the board edge.
Then he forgets his shooting phase and moves right into assault. Though he really only had two shots so it wasn't that big of a problem.
In the assault phase, the southern daemonhost takes care of the lone AC and moves up to engage things.
The other daemonhost is engaged by a mob. His lord only does two wounds to it, so he manages to kill a bloodletter before being taken down.
My Turn 2.
The daemonhost rolls Warp strength again, and maxes out on his rolls, so I move him into the cover to engage the defiler.
The Southern Chimera moves to block off the bikes so that they had to move through the forest to go forwards.
Shooting starts and my Dev squad destroys his Predator, my Southern chimera kills a biker. I do one wound to the daemon prince and kill a bloodletter and a flesh hound. My Vindicare misses again with a turbo penetrator shot to the prince. I do one more wound to the prince and then it's combat as the Daemonhost barely reaches the defiler.
The defiler swings and misses, and the daemonhost pens the defiler and causes it to explode. Fortunately, the host made it's invulnerable save.
His turn 3.
The big group of beserkers moves to engage the daemonhost. Everyone else moves to engage my lines.
The Bloodletters engage my inquisitor and retinue, while the prince just hits the retinue. The puppies hit my IST squad (No plasma since they both fried themselves earlier) and the two lone beserkers hit one of my tac squads.
Against the daemonhost, he has 40 attacks. Of those attacks, 4 wounded (6's to wound are nice). I made 3 of the 4 saves, so bye-bye daemonhost. He preformed admirably though.
The small beserker squad killed one marine, but took no casaulties. The marines held.
The hounds killed one IST for the price of one hound. Tie battle.
The prince killed both members of the retinue he could reach, whereas the bloodletters killed the inquisitor and one servitor. Understandably, the squad broke and ran, taking itself away. Neither squad managed to consolidate into anything though.
The bikers couldn't manage to glance the chimera, so nothing happened there.
My turn 3.
I moved my assault squad to engage the bloodletters. One DCA went after the hounds, while the other went after the small beserker squad.
I moved the Southern Chimera away from the opening to allow other fire though to the bikers, and the Northern one up to draw the big beserker squad away from my lines.
The Prince falls to gunfire, as does the biker squad (The Vindicare FINALLY hit and took out his AC there).
I kill all but 3 Bloodletters with fire and then assault.
One DCA takes out the small beserker squad with no casaulties.
The other DCA takes out one hound, but the hounds take out all the ISTs. the DCA is fearless, so she piles in.
The assault squad takes out two Bloodletters for the price of two assault marines. Tied there.
His turn 4
The Big squad does not rage, but still he moves them up to engage the Chimera.
In the assault phase, His AC puts a strength 10 fist through the chimera, causing it to explode 6". The entire squad was under, and her loses 1-2 beserkers only.
The bloodletter take out one assault marine, but is killed in return.
The DCA takes out one fleshhound. The other doesn't hurt her, and goes back to the warp.
All he has left is the big beserker squad now, so he calls the game. He had only managed to kill 2 of my scoring units, whereas his last one was a couple losses away from not being one.
My thoughts on the game.
My opponent screwed up
He was hell bent on taking out the daemonhost that he used all his forces to go after them. He would have been better off ignoring them (Though the one that took out the defiler, he was forced to go after it by blood rage). The prince should have gone after something other than my inq retinue. The bloodletters could have handled it by themselves.
Still, my heros of the game were the daemonhosts and my Chimeras. I got pretty lucky on the hosts power rolls, which enabled them to do a bit of damage. Them and the Chimeras tied up the Khorne forces and redirected them to where I wanted them so I could blast them.
The GL ISTs didn't do much. I think they killed one beserker, but they also used thier targeters to measure for other units. I got them for a)Thier Chimera, b) as a small scoring unit, and c)as a compusory troop choice.
I was disappointed in the Vindicare, but that was just the opposite luck I had with the daemonhosts.
My speeders have not been all that lucky lately. I've used this army list in two battles, and the speeders fired off a total of 44 AC shots, only two of which have been rending. Still, they haven't taken any casaulties either.
Since I had three turns to move, I could have easily captured all the table quarters, so I'd call this a massacre for the daemonhunters.
In a couple weeks, I'm planning on taking this list to a mini-GT. We'll see how it does. So far it's gotten a massacre vs a Puritan Grey Knight force (Though, I kinda felt sorry for the guy. It was no match-up) and this World Eaters force.
