I have been contemplating which Space Marine chapter to build and I think Red Scorpions is the way to go.  Now for fluff and traits.  I have a few traits in mind that I think suit their fluff.

1. Honour your wargear.  It was said that a large amount of Devastator and Tactical Dreadnought Armour (Terminator Armour) was collected shortly before the powers of chaos attacked their homeworld.

2. Purity Above All.  They are constantly monitoring gene mutation because of their gene splicing with the Fire Hawks.

3. Scion of Mars.  They had a lot of extra help from the Adeptus Mechanicus compiling their armoury.  Although I don't know if this trait would be terribly useful.

4. Trust Your Battle Brothers.  They are known for being courageous and don't falter.  Counter Attack seems like a fitting ability. (would this be useful on Assault Marines as they do not carry bolters)

This was all based on fluff I read on this website.. http://www.garbled.net/40k/red.scorpion.history.html

If anyone has something more official, or something not mentioned in this website, I am all ears.  Thanks all.

nope, that's it. Someone asked about the red scorpions a few months ago, no official fluff exists.
However, i would be happy to be proven wrong.

The Hammer

Hope thsi is helpful:

In the fluff piece you cite they seem more like Fierce: Take the Fight to Them; No Mercy, Nor Respite; We Stand Alone; or even better Major Divergence: Blessed be the Warriors; Be Swift as the Wind; Flesh Over Steel; We Stand Alone than any of the traits you list. Also, I'd say they should pretty much stick to Have Pride in your Colours as well.

If you went with my version - and I'm not sayign it's any better than yours because that's a second edition fluff piece - you could still work in a Techmarine - he'd look cool on a bike with a scorpion stinger in the place of his servo arm - or Terminators. The latter'd look pretty fluffy with furious charge and scorpion pincers as lightning claws, but they'd be stuck with an ordinary Land Raider to get them into combat unless you made them elite and switched Eye to Eye for Aspire to Glory....really neither drawback entirely fits them from what I read sinc ethey have vehicles and teminators, but terminators are darned expensive anyways so it might be wortwhile doing this unless you're bent on two squad of terminators.
Your Devastators would have to be heavy support, not a biggie since these guys consider camoflage "the clours of cowardice" anyways, and you'll probably fill up your elites with other stuff. It might even be worthwhile taking one squad of Devastators sans weapons to plunk in the center since Flesh Over Steel would screw up using their Rhino for the same purpose. If you take your Termies as elite you could cram in an apothecary to fluff up the list if you really want one.

So just to sum up my input, I see'em as significant divergence, blessed be the warriors, be swift as the wind, aspire to glory, we stand alone, with have pride in your colours as an optional "fluff" drawback when writing your list.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

Just as an FYI, I talked to a guy today, who said that ForgeWorld acciddentally sent him a Red Scorpions photo etched parts kit, which they weren't planning on releasing for a while. If you do Red Scorpions, there may be some products from Forge World on the way.

No way, thats really cool. I know a guy that ordered a bunch of stuff from GW mail order in October and got the new Black Templars codex. I have since decided to go Raven Guard, thanks for the heads up though.
