I am building an apocalypse sized armored company and will begin building my first 11 russes soon. I'm wondering if I should put sponsons on them or not. They will all have hull heavy bolters regardless. I kinda like to keep my tanks cheap, but can see the use in having some anti-infantry power that doesn't scatter.

My main setup for 3500-4000 will be:

Vanquisher command tank

3 exterminators (sponsons on these of course)

6 russes in troops

3 demolishers

4 basilisks

baneblade

Pretty much everything has extra armor, dozer blades and ace gunners, except the basilisks. The vanquisher is mainly for theme, as it will be painted like a commissar's tank... I really want to put some sponsons on things because they make the tanks look alot cooler. So whats the verdict? I can always magnetize them, as well.

Are there any other big doctrines I should give my tanks?

Thanks!

We've gone over that pretty extensively. Opinions and results vary, but if you read that thread you should at least be well-informed.

My Bottom line: If you like them and you think they're cool, they're a reasonable enough value to spend the points on them.

Hmm. Alot of good info in that thread, but it seems that most of it assumes a normal IG army, not armored company.

I think I'll just end up going with sponsons on my demolishers, exterminators, and vanquisher command tank.
