Hello, everyone. I'm new to Warhammer 40K, and I don't have an army of my own (just a poor little squad of Vostroyans)... but until I find the cash needed to buy enough for a full army, I'd like to watch a couple games. My search for a hobby shop / GW store in the area has failed (that may be my fault-- just moved here a week ago)... does anyone know of a hobby shop or club in the Cleveland, Ohio area?

First off, welcome to 40k and welcome to Cleveland!

There are no GW Stores in cleveland, but we are blessed with a couple of great shops on the west side.

I do most of my gaming at Warzone Games in cleveland. It's near the airport, and looks shady, but has a decent amount of gaming room and plenty of terrain. I typically game there on mondays, but there's a forum here: http://www.warzonematrix.com/ that you can use to set stuff up.

On the west side there is both Gamers Haven (not horribly impressive) and Recess games at Great Northern Mall. REcess has a membership program giving 10% off, and has a decent group on fridays, but that's hit and miss. Their website is: http://www.recess.net/beast/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

On the east side Comic Heaven stocks some GW stuff, but there is no discout and no real gaming group that I'm aware of.

Where in Cleveland do you live?

Actually, I don't live in Cleveland. I just figured that no one would know what the hell I was talking about if I said I lived in Grafton.

I think it takes something like 20 or 30 minutes to get to Great Northern Mall, maybe less. I really need to start paying attention to these things... I moved up here (from Maryland) to be with my girlfriend, and she's been doing most of the driving, on the theory that I shouldn't be late for a job interview. If there were no good clubs around, I was thinking about starting one up, once I get a job. In Maryland, I ran a club and it did quite well, so we will see. If there's interest for a quality club (and the ones you mentioned aren't fitting the bill), then maybe I can rummage something up.

Out of the clubs you mentioned, is there one in particular that is better to just observe at? As I said, I don't have the models to play at the moment, and 'counts-as' as never appealed to me.

Thanks for the warm response.

It seems that Polonious and I are the only two who play in the Cleveland area?

I live on the east side of Cleveland, and occasionally drive out to Gamer's Haven in Middleburg Heights on Tuesdays, but I haven't been out in about three or four months, due to other obligations and the 35-45 minute drive time. Most of the folks there are friendly; if you go, ask for Brandon, he tends to run things.
