i know they can move, and 4 D shots are good, but they tend to blow up on me fairly quickly. anyone else agree?

i just hate the 10 armor on the back. the idea of 3 devil fish of fire warriors killing my titan from behind really irks me.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

What's the range? Can you keep the back to something? That's my first thought. Keeps them away from all those pesky chainfists and things to boot.

Sorry if I'm dum I don't know the rules for it.

oh and btw I hate you :p

Are you utilizing it movement potential? Remember, if the Revenant moves, it gets a holofield save.

And how is your enemy getting behind you? Are you sending the titan out unsupported by other units?

i particularly meant against flyer drops, deepstriking and the wonderful tau devilfish rapid re-deployment squad.

the range is ok, i think 54 or 60", but not anything special.

i was just wondering if anyone has used one, and had any "plans" or tactics they use to make them effective and not just a way to absorb fire for a round or 2...and then die.

I read a resent battle report where someone was basically Tank Shocking with it, it is very fast, but should not be unsupported.

1 - keep it motion. The holofield doesn't work if its stationary.
2 - I wouldn't use its jump jet/tank shock ability without back up. It prevents you from using your main armaments and only has 1 attack for assault. Granted, it is a devastating assault using the gargantuan creatures rule, but it has a WS of 3. In fact, I would forget assaulting with it entirely. Its strength lies in its guns & mobility. Its a duelist, not a brawler.
3 - support, support, support! Yes it is a MC. Yes it literally towers over the field, but it cannot do the job without supporting units. And, it is armor value 12/12/10, compared to 14/13/12 and 13/13/12 for other races titans.

Remember, if its the biggest thing on the board, it will probably cause your opponent to throw lots of fire at it. The upside is that while he is shooting your titan, he isn't shooting the rest of your army. The bad side is that he will probably scrap the 800 point titan given a serious preponderance of firepower.

Keep a unit of eldar jet bikes with farseer near the titan. The farseer should "fortune" the eldar titan every turn, and possibly guide it as well.
Move the titan every turn to get the holofield save (which you can now reroll thanks to fortune).
If an enemy unit gets too close, move the bikes 1' behind the unit, and then assault that unit with the titan. Your titan should survive almost any assault, except from titan hunter units. The enemy
must then fall back, and will be crossfired by the bikers. Since even fearless units must fall back, synapse and fearlessness don't matter.

The Apoc rules make it so you CAN'T Fortune the Titan. You could before, but not now.
