Holiday promotions for GW stores
Yeah some of it is useless, but the gift exchange sounds neat. Also $30 carrying cases if you're willing to sit through an Academy course.
Also, if I read it correctly, it's $85 for paints/primer/hobby stuff, a core game starter set, and a carrying case.

That gift exchange sounds like it could be a big flop; people ditching all the extra scouts and berserkers and things like that come in the big boxes. I mean would they put some kind of limits on it? I guess though it could be fun if you think of it like gambling.

Wow that has disaster written all over it. First off if everything is wrapped, how can you be sure I put in a GW product and no a box of rocks?
Second off, if I put in some old blisters I can get cards and pick up boxes?
Third off, a $5 gift card for spending $100? When i get 20% off at www.thewarstore.com AND they have a sale coming up the day after thanksgiving?
Um, no. No thank you. No.

You'll ruin it, KK! Half the 12 year olds and Warseer can't do simple math fractions. This is GW's ace up its sleeve!
I was thinking of getting a small gift card, like $12 or whatever, and spending it to get $5 off. I wanted to get some bits anyway.

Speaking of which...
Does anyone know how the Warstore Day After Thanksgiving Sale will work?
Or when the details will be announced?
(And, does anyone know/remember how such sales have been run in the past at the Warstore?)

Has anybody talked to their store about the gift exchange? Seriously, how much garbage is going to get wrapped up?
Does the product have to be NIB? I mean, I've got a giant bag of half assembled 5th edition brettonian knights that are GW product that I could put in a box and wrap up.
Or some old 2nd edition Tyranid warriors, still in blister. Nothing says valueless like crappy models for crappy units.

The drawing to win a painted army sounds kind of cool. If I lived near a hobby center I'd go just for that.

Blah, I just hate going into GW stores. They try so hard to pressure you to buy any of thier stuff. They also try to make other stores or brands look crummy. Just like when those foundation paints came out. They were bragging about how great they were and I was like " There already is somthing like that, its called Vallejo" They got all annoyed. W/e

That's called "salesmanship" or "the difference between a crappy store and a good store", whichever side you're on at the moment.
The store near me is chill with all that. Hell, one guy repeatedly comes in with vallejo paints and they really don't say much about it. They all know about warmachine and say it's cool except it won't allow large-army engagements the way 40k does, which is true just like LOTR's rules.
