It's not fugly like you seem to think, Malf. It all kind of works together.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

I've seen a few blue skorne schemes, and two or three green ones, but this one is certainly unique. The blue and the orange work very well together (as they should, for anyone who knows color theory) but it's the pink skin that throws it off for me. It isn't that pink isn't a valid color choice either, I think it's just that it doesn't fit well with the blue and orange.

I'm no color theorist but it feels like the three colors all together is just one too many. since they all take up (roughly) the same amount of space on the model, you don't have much of a 'base' color to keep the model together.

I'd suggest picking out the blue spots either in the orange or a more subdued color.

Or making all of the armor blue. But it seems like you wanted orange to be the main armor color.

Digging on the pink skin

But agreed that the two-tone armor gives the mini a one-color-too-many look ...

Yeah, I was thinking that more neutrals and maybe lighter skin would make it work.

But I haven't painted anything for a while. We'll see.

In this case here I would not go lighter for the skin, I would actually go darker, and less saturated. I think you can do this with a minimum of work, as well. Try this:

Wash over the skin areas with a purplish-grey color, a bit on the darker side. This will desaturate your skin, making it a bit more believable as well as making the armor and skin clash less. Right now their brightness's are conflicting each other. You need one part to be lighter and one part darker for there to be a pleasing visual harmony.

When that wash dries, do a light drybrush or highlighting of a pinkish-grey. This should (crossing fingers) tie the wash, the mid-tone pink, and the highlights all together.

Hope that helps.
