Never played Chaos but here is a list I am probably going to make
Play style:
Turn one Jump forward with DP and Sorc
Lash 1 unit... depending on distance lash it again
Lash unit 2
Charge with spawn
If I'm not so lucky...
See spawn get shot up, lose a few possessed.
Lash again Charge
Lash Charge
HQ
Sorcerer - MoS, Lash of Submission, Jump Pack
Daemon Prince - MoS, Lash of Submission, Wings
(not sure if i can give it to him, currently have MoN and Warptime)
Greater Daemon
Troops
5 man squad
5 man squad
5 man Daemons
5 man Daemons
Elites
8 man Possessed , AC chaos icon
8 man Possessed , chaos icon
8 man Possessed , chaos icon
Fast
3 Spawn
3 Spawn
Heavy
1 Oblit
1 Oblit

2x Lash -> *vomit*
3x 8 Possessed -> You redeem yourself, awesome!
2x 5 Demons -> Whoa there!
2x 3 Spawn -> This is madness!
More to the point: What ikon on those possessed? Running my 8 with MoS (and if you want MoCU, don't it's just a teleport homer really, and MoS isn't much more for I5). What gear on the 5 CSM? 1 melta isn't a bad plan, or 1 plasma for mini-fire support.
I will admit you could lose some possessed (1-2 squads) and maybe a few spawn to fund much more killy and exciting things. If you don't get a cr@p for fluff, zerkers work nicely with lash, can secure them the furious charge ftw. And more oblits really get the most abuse out of lash too.

hahaha yeah 2x lash = the lame I was just hoping to make the spawn substantially more viable. your strong reaction has made me reconsider the MoN+Warptime This list is inspired by what is most appealing about chaos for me. I really really like the new spawn models, and they really fit well into how i want to engage my enemy. They are intended to be cannon fodder and tie up larger units. I originally was going with MoN on the possessed but it was WAY too much. I will have to look at the codex again, but i agree the MoS is the way to go. I originally had Lascannons in the squad but i goofed it up because you need 10 I think the meltas are a great suggestion. The greater daemon will probably get the axe if i run out of points, as the fluff of this army is fairly important to me. BTW i went to Lehigh University and my family all live up in bethlehem, pa

Ahhh, see I was pretty sure you weren't a cheesehead lasher at heart - anybody with 6 spawn and 24 possessed is clearly in it for the modeling and character
About having the spawn tie things up as a tactic, I guess the possessed are your 'hammer' units that storm in for Total Devastation after the spawn hold a turn? Not a horrible plan, and you have enough juicy targets - 3x possessed, DP, loner oblits - that not all enemy fire will suck onto them. A lash would indeed help the spawn get where they're going, and maybe set up leap-frog assaults for possessed in further turns. And generally be and such
On Lehigh, if you're ever up here (or up here now??) we've got a decent gaming group over at The Portal in east Bethlehem. 40k most every Sat, and a decent selection of armies to fight. We end up megabattlin' a lot on those Saturdays, but there are those of us who enjoy a sane game from time to time

yeah i will have to re-evaluate the 2x lash as it is pretty lame
Warptime and MoN on the DP would be just as nasty too. Perhaps more so

Don't be afraid to take dual Lash. It doesn't make even the most cut-throat Chaos list unbeatable, though it is very strong, and your list is far from a cut-throat Chaos list. In fact, I think the dual Lash would be pretty fun to see in this list, pulling stuff towards your numerous Spawn and Possessed.

That was the original thought. The eerie pull of these horribly grotesque mutations, before being swallowed up by their evil.
I have to play test it for sure. This list isn't intended to be "i'ma-rock-the-tournament-world-with-spawn"
I know they aren't all that great S5 T5 W3 I3 no save they are going to die sooner rather than later.
I just think they will be a lot of fun to play with and this army is intended to go against the Imperium- IG & Marines. Both armies i think it would match up fairly well against.
does the lash work against vehicles? I don't remember.

Yeah, I figured that. The fact that it lets you essentially control the Spawn's movement adds to the coolness. It's a fun little trick.
Nope, no vehicles (thankfully, I'd say!).

oh!? i'm not sure if you meant to imply this but... can i move my spawn and then Lash THEM? and move them an additional 2d6? or does it have to be an enemy unit?

No, sorry for the confusion. I meant that by Lashing a unit, it will tend to be the closest unit the next turn (especially if Lashed twice) when the Spawn move, so you can indirectly determine their general direction that way. Would be imba if you could Lash your own units.

haha holy crap I thought this was the most BROKENNESS ability after you said that.
"I move my oblits 3", then I lash them for 10", then they melta your falcon in the rear.

That was, possibly, the dirtiest thing ever said on Dakka without getting edited.
LOL
I'm going to have to agree with the Lash FANS.
Ignore those who whine about the cheesiness of dual lash.
Dual Lash is a perfectly fine option. There is far worse.
At least you're keeping a veneer of "fluff" in your army.
How about those who play Chaos armies that use traditionally unfriendly units together?
My Khorne Berzerkers are going to charge the unit that was LASHED by the SLAANESHI sorcerer right after the THOUSAND SONS unit shoots them.
First, though, I Turbo Boost my Nurgle Bikes.
At least Dual lash is a Slaaneshi power used the way IT WAS MEANT TO.
Personally, people who complain about cheesey armies get on my nerves.
If you weren't supposed to build it, the codex wouldn't allow it.
Wanna play an army that's totally min/maxed? Fine with me! Bring it!
I'm not afraid of a "cheesy" or "beardy" or "min/maxed" army. Personally, I couldn't care less if your army has any fluff.
Throw a bunch of stuff together that you think will be uber-tough, and I'll see if I can beat it.

the only hesitancy i have at this moment is total points.
i don't own the codex, i just wrote down the cost of the units i wanted at a glance and built a list
I know the points are there to do the list but I am not sure how much more (if at all) MoN + Warptime is than MoS + Lash of Submission
I can empathize with the whiners... i remember looking through the new codex and when i saw that ability, i had to point it out to my friend at how abusive it could be.
but in a good, rear hatch blocking kinda way.
once i know that it will let me know what the marines have as far as equipment, and what Mark the possessed will have.

Spawns are too unpredictable.
The lashes can bunch up units so that they could be shot by Obliterators via plasma cannons, or taken on by rapidly firing Rhino squads such as Noise Marines with doom sirens (my personal favorite).
Your troop units are a bit pointless.

B) With how i play... i actually could see this list being quite effective against a lot of lists. That's code for... i have strippers dance while i play to distract from what's really happening. B)

The list has problems vs mechanized armies as it lacks armour-piercing weapons.
By the way, I know Lehigh Univ, nice place, when I studied at Princeton.

very nice!
the intent is to get the oblits close via homer to melta or las cannon a tank
I wanted to have 2 tank hunting squads for troops but you need a max 10 troopers. B(
My current plan is the Oblits, that is their sole role, and my other hope at destroying tanks, is the Daemon Prince and Greater Daemon MC rule.
