ok, I'm working on getting my GW blaneblade ready for Tankgiving on Friday at the LA Battlebunker.
I have the track runners basically completed and will start on the hull tomorrow.
Questions to all of you regarding your kit out:
Are you staying with a standard Baneblade?
Kitting it out as a Hell Cannon?
Are you using Sponsons?
Are you building it with two or four Sponsons?
Are you using the Heavy flamers in any of your sponsons?
I figuring on using some magnets with this one to kit out some sponsons, but was wondering how the rest of you are dealing with this model?
If you are sticking with two sponsons (one on each side) are you placing them to the forward, the back or the middle of your side? Considering that you measure from the weapon this will effect game play.

Thanks to the greatness of magnets and pins, my -blade, can be a regular baneblade, a hellhammer, and can easily have 2 or 4 sponsons, each with interchangable heavy bolter/heavy flamer, takes only seconds to do the changes.

I've already built my Hellhammer, it's got one set of Heavy Flamer sponsons currently, but I left the spots open for a second set once I find someone who's building one without Sponsons. People wonder why I did it, but my guard have a flamer in every squad (except one for anti-tank) and I think averages 2 flamers/unit, so the lack of cover saves fits right in.

Pin the main gun.
Glue together the sponsons with heavy bolters (they are better than the heavy flamers) magnetise them to mount on the rearmost sponson mount, or the middle if you prefer.
Make up some extra plates glue them together in an L shape to fit over the sponson mount.
This gives you the most flexibility with the one kit. Namely: Baneblade with sponsons, Baneblade with Av14 side plates or Hellhammer with Av14 side plates. If you get a pair of sponsons (unlikely unless you are very lucky or you buy them from Warstore or Wookie Hole) then build them as heavy flamer sponsons for full optimisation. Though ideally if you want to go down that route you want to leave the front sponson points vacant for the Hellhammer sponsons, this means leaving two pairs of armour plates magnetised for removal. At that point buy a third pair of sponsons as heavy bolter sponsons, but then it is getting expensive.
Av14 is inferior but not bad and as the Hellhammer needs to get in close to fire its gun, the extra point of armour will be useful. Also if ever I feel I need to optimise the Baneblade with two sponsons is the default and best loadout you can have, everything else is just for a change. So I would go with the first option and magnetise a single set of sponsons/plates and have a swappable main gun. This is precisely what I have done, and am very happy with the result.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
