Hey there ,

After a lot of time looing at it, I have decided I don't like the metal termie librarian. So, instead of using that I was considering using a chaplain termie model instead. I would change the crozius into a more force weapon looking thing and adda force hood doo-dad.

Do you guys think that would look ok?

Oh, and don't suggest making a lirarian from the plastics. i really don't have the skills to do that. Making a force hood will tax me to my meager limits.

Thanks,
ender502

As long as it kind of-sort of looks like a librarian, I don't think its that big an issue.

good luck with the conversion work, and post a pic when its done.

Seriously, the easiest thing to do to make a librarian is add a suitably large or ornate looking weapon or staff for the force weapon and call it done. Another easy thing to do, is to follow the codex astartes and paint the librarian blue, or a portion of his armor blue. (Like the arm holding the force weapon maybe)

That is the easiest way to distinguish a librarian without having to get too creative with the conversion process and no one should be confused.

Plastic Terminator model, modified over to be a Librarian.

It's really not that hard, and you can do a whole lot more with simple techniques than I did.

For example, put some more ornamentation on the blade, more wiring on the hood and shield, etc. etc. None of it is hard, and working with plastic is always easier than working with metal.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Don't forget the paint scheme. Fancy doo-dads, force weapon and hood with a cool blue scheme and a shoulder pads from their chapter.

I don't think the termi chaplain fits well. At minimum his skull head and skeletal iconography scream chaplain to me. Unless your playing mortifactors or something of that nature.

Besides the head, what kind of skeletal iconography is there? The model has lots of doodads on it but not a lot of skeleton junk as far as I can see.

Seeing the example of the converted plastic dude does give me some minor hope of a plastic librarian.

Plastic Librarians...
just add a book - nothing shouts "im a library nerd" more than a big book hanging off your waist - and a coupla scrolls
then take a shoulde pad and cut it to make a hood - literally stand the shoulder pad upright and cut two semi-circles out to form a hood shape like in my regular one

in regular armor

in termi armor

For a chaplain - and this is the easier one - get a chaos skelly head off the chaos marine beserker sprue - cut off the extra bits and stick in the termie headspace...
add a whack of purity seals - a coupla hanging scrolls/tabards - and two EXTRA LONG purity seal style scrolls hangin from the shoulders down.
on the chest - cut off the wings or everything other than the skull - add some green stuff to make a rib cage - very easy - just a couple thin sausages pasted down will do.

then get the mace off the ... erm - i think its the dark angels - use that with an icon on top to make the croz!

hahaha my bad for not reading your post properly...

I understand now - you want a librarian - but you dont like the stock ones... nor did I...

but as per my previous reply - just add scrolls, hammer or force sword, tabard, scroll canisters, hanging litany scrolls, books etc until you have a suitably librarian looking termie... add some cables running from helmet to suit and from helmet over chest... voila.

Whew, I am glad I read this post. I was just going to start a thread asking "What Makes a Librarian a Librarian to You?" on the vein of making stock termies into Librarians. This pretty much nailed that down for me!

Oh, and I really like the sprue hammer head. I am going to have to steal that idea for a few power weapons

my advise - get a small saw - it was hell cutting through the sprue with my 1 and only craft knife... pretty much went through 1 whole edge of a sprue before getting it right - and then my blade was so blunt, notched and tipped that i couldnt clean all the flash off my marines...

i did buy a new box of blades though - but really use a saw then clean up with a file / nail file.

oh, for a NICE BIG HAMMER use the vehicle sprue.

0 40k fund and lack of tools / bits and experience is the master of substitution.

If your talking about the newest metal termi chap, the chest peice and the right shoulder pad have little skeletons on them.

Ahhhhh... The chest isn't a big deal. Every marine needs a skull after all. The shoulder would be another story. But all these damn "modelers" have pretty much convinced me to model a plastic termie into a librarian.

I hope yall are satisfied!

that is a great model - the chaplain...

i guess he could work - you'd have to turn his crozium into a force weapon of some sort - could be turned into a hammer fairly easily, but the head...

to get his head out would be a challenge, i do like the toes and seals etc. would have to maybe remove the censure, and a book or two and a different style of shoulder pad to the right shoulder - could be done.

The head would be rather easy if you had a Dremel. Just use a thick grinding/cut off wheel to flatten the face, the a power drill and 1/8" bit to hollow it from there. I would start the drill hole with a pin vice though so you can controll where it goes more easily.

I actually like the skull head. If you were to just add a few hoses and the psychic hood I think you wouldn't have to replace the head at all.

Oh, and I like the green stuff hoses but I find guitar string (in various widths) gives you a better result. But that is compared to my pathetic GS skills.

Or you could say that he's a Laplain or a Chaprarian and just add a force-hood and maybe a forceweapon.

i find guitar strings helluva difficult to control... but then i have very limited tools... namely a craft / hobby knife and a needle nose pliers and a set of stamp collector tweezers... getting some dentist / wax tools tomorrow - yay.

dont know how to use em - but im sure i will learn.
