Sorry if this is a bonehead question or has been addressed elsewhere, but my search fu is weak.

My question is if I take the Light Infantry doctrine, that is just applied to units I choose and not the whole army, correct? I know the special equipment doctrines are for the entire army, but I just want to make sure that I'm not misreading and can take Light Infantry on some squads but not others. There will be no question as to which squads have it, as I'm using Catachan models for the Light Infantry and Cadian for normal squads.

You can take them on whatever squads you wish to pay the points on.

The regiment is renowned for its stealth. This doctrine is available to any Guard infantry unit without a transport vehicle at +X points per unit.

'Is available' to me makes me think that it is possible, but not mandatory for said units to take this doctrine. That's how I interpret it, and play with it
anyways.

You're good, Light Infantry can be applied to individual units and not to the whole army. Check out the IG FAQ, notice that it mentions being able to infiltrate the squads in a platoon that have LI while deploying the other squads without it normally.......
