From The Miniatures Page
Alan and Michael Perry of Perry Miniatures writes:

After years of contemplation and consideration, Perry Miniatures have taken the plunge into plastic figures.

These will be 28mm hard-plastic miniatures which will complement our metal ranges in scale and detail. The first releases will be an American Civil War infantry box and a supporting cavalry box. The infantry box will contain 36 figures, half marching, half firing line, and will include a command. The cavalry will include 12 mounted figures, including command. Both these boxes are intended for use for Union and Confederate forces, as the headgear is separate, allowing the customer to customise their armies accordingly. We will be releasing a metal range of ACW to run along with these boxes.

At the moment, we're aiming at the £12.00 GBP mark for a box. We are in tooling process for both boxes at the moment, and are looking at a March release, fingers crossed.

The figures pictured are a selection of the 12 different figures found on each infantry sprue. The integral bases are not yet attached in these pictures.

Merry Christmas!!

Man, why couldn't they be doing the napoleonic Nassau troops I am using for my IG counts as army?! I suppose I will be content to help fund their change over

O! hurry and produce thine other ranges.

36 figures for 12 pounds... how does that compare with a GW regiment box?

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Got any pics Wehrkind? Seems like a very cool idea...

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread

I heart SYR 8766

For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... Asmodai (my new hero)

At some point these sorts of decision-making skills lump you into the same camp as the Lehman Brothers, the White Star Line shipping company, and mothers who smoke during pregnancy.

Well, one British Pound = $2.028 (roughly, as of 12/5/07), which correlates to about $24.32 for a box of 36. Compare at $30 for 20-30 figs (or so) depending on 40k, fantasy, and size of models (e.g. gnoblars vs. Imperial Militia). Having said that, many (most?) LOTR plastic boxed sets work out to $25 for 25 figs, or 1/1 ratio.

Of course, these will have integral bases and have many fewer separate greeblies (closer to 1/72 scale historical figs in terms of layout, I would reckon). YMMV.

There's already some complaints that the greens are showing 40k-style scale-creep, including 'telephone pole guns'. Not sure if that's a function of grognarditude, plastic, or what, but I find it funny that someone can even find a way to complain about the Perrys (their Foundry figs aside).

I think a LOT of GW gamers are going to start finding ways to either make ACW themed guard armies, or learn to play Johnny Reb (or Stars & Bars, or whatever).

This is sweet news. I love the Perry Brothers' Crusaders line, and I'm glad to hear they're going to do plastic and metal. Looks like a good time to pick up some Civil War stuff....The greens look solid, and those prices aren't bad either. Thanks for posting this, Syr. It's a good time to be a grognard.
