Hello evryone this is the first time i post anything here but i've been roaming the boards for a long time ^^

I've had a chaos army for a few years but i realy hate the new book so i want to try something new i've been thinking about allot of armies i'm considering Ork, Dark Eldar and Tau at the moment but i dont realy know much about either of these armies. I've though of this army and think its pretty good my self but never having played or seen Dark Eldar Armies in action i realy need some advise. So please dont hold back unless you think its a good list. ^^

The good: Sniper Squads 2 10 Man 2 DL squads

Raider Squads are fine, many go with 5-6man gunboat instead of full 10 man.

The ok:

RJB's are ok, although 2 3 man 2 blasters are just as good and the extra bodies really don't add much more to the squad.

The Bad:

Those scourges are heavy cost, and low return value. Jump Pack heavy weapons team that cannot move and shoot? You are better off with more Sniper squads(see above). One caveat 6-7 man is just fine in Cities of Death, as they can reposition and one turn of lost shooting for better shots is worth while.

Talos - slow and unpredicatable. If you are not using a WWP then I don't recommend them as anything other than fire magnets.

Archon attached to Incubi is super killy, but also limiting. What weapons did you give the lord? Probably an Agonizer/SP combo with Shadowfield, Combat Drugs. That is the typical load he carries around. What I would do even at 1500 points if you want Incubi is run a Archon on his own, and a Dracon with those Incubi.

The list has not theme is shooty and counterassault? Shooty will outshoot you, and that Raider with the Lord will not make it to combat versus anyone who knows better. The whole army is slow, and that is bad for Dark Eldar.

Also, I hope you have the current edition of the Codex with all the updates for wyches and other units. Wyches are pretty much the best CC unit now with all the snazy rules and invulnerable CC save.

My recommendation are take something other than Scourges, Ravagers are awesome and do the same thing, With the saved points you could just use the Archon on his own, and a Dracon with the Incubi. One Talos is ok for protecting your troops and being a fire Magnet, but 2 screams for WWP's.

Hope that helps.

Thanks allot for the reply i have no idea about the new rules however i have the army builder file and i am using that but i guess thats not the good list anymore ^^
I'm getting the Codex tonight so ill be having some new and better idea's later.

I get the point with smaller squads in raiders and also the jet bikes could be smaller squads so ill change that and maybe get 3 squads of 3 bikes ^^

Are Talos realy bad though? I had no idea how fast they could move but like their weapons and fluff allot so i just added them without knowning much about their preformance.
If they are pretty worthless i guess ill have to do something else.

Make sure to get the codex with the white skull on the front that says second edition printing. It should have wyches with an invulnerable close combat save and Wych Lords in it along with the other stuff.

Talos move 6" and assault 6". They are a skimmer but don't get any skimmer bonuses except for moving through cover. It is a monstrous creature but has its own AP rule that makes worse than a true Monstrous Creature. It is the only thing that blocks LOS in the army so you can hide a few things behind it. To top it off, it only gets D6 attacks, no extra +1 for 2 ccw's even though it clearly has 2, and maybe +1 for charging. If it gets into CC then you will do well, but without WWP getting there and your opponent just moving away is the problem. The shooting weapon is awful, and is not up to par with other Dreadnaught models. Talos with Haemonculi make good units though, flamer and what not

3 Squads of Bikes is a lot, they are mainly tank hunters and they are considered Eldar Jetbikes for that 6" assault move, per the wargear book. Troops are the bread and butter of DE, while Wyches and even Mandrakes serve a good role.

Ravagers are great, and with a bit better armor so they are the class of the Heavy section.

DE are being redone this year, the whole model line from what we hear. The codex is being reworked, but I doubt a whole lot will change, just bringing it inline with the 4th edition and new structure of units. Incubi becoming elites and retinue's going away being one of those that is likely. So 2008, 2009 may see a whole slew of goodness for DE. Soulstorm comes out as well, Dawn of War game that has them in it.

Nice to see others thinking of Dark Eldar and planning them as an army.

Consensus is Ravagers in your Heavy Support slots. I agree. Overall a good beginning list that you can tweak latter to fit your individual play style. I personally would find room for a squad of Wyches also they are monsters in CC.

Don't bring Incubi.

Talos take wounds if they end their move in diff terrain, don't they? If that's a bonus...what's the negative? lol

Reaver Jetbikes don't need 5, just 3 + 2 blasters. They are there to kill bombarding Whirlwinds and Basilisks, then die.

Keep them cheap.

You will rarely want to keep your raider squads ON your transports, they get shot down very quickly.

Give 'em a dark lance, put them on the ground and equip your raiders with nightshields...and shoot the other guy from your side of the board. Being on his side of the board with T3 troops with a 5+ save is "bad". They won't need assault weapons...

A few wyche units + archon + wych dracite makes for an excellent 'please don't assault me' combo. They are top end assault units.
