For those Video Gamingly Challenged people, these guys:

So, before I waste a lifetime supply of green stuff, is this do-able? The idea of people who beat up civilians for no reason other than account of that they might be plotting against the establishment really fits into the Inquisitor column.

Which game is this from?

Either way, I should think a combination of Death Korps of Krieg heads (or something else that has rebreathers, such as some Cadians and
the Elysians) and the standard Cadian torso/legs should do fine. That is, if you want to skip most of the green stuffing.

I'll buy a test figure today. Karskin or Guard?

Lousy vox chatter disturbance....

I'd say regular guard. From what I can see in the picture, I think Kasrkin might be a bit too much armour (on the model anyways)
for it.

Good luck with this!

The problem is, I don't have enough spare money to buy a whole box (And If it doesn't work, what am I going to do with the other guardsmen I have no need for?), nor do I have the spare box to make a test one.

I like to see if my idea works before I waste too much money.

Works as in that it doesn't suck.

I've bought a Karskin blister pack, you'd be suprized about how unarmoured it looks without the huge backpacks.

I'm thinking Cadian legs, krieg head (or something with a rebreather), and not certain on the torso. Actually... *idea* use the torso of the tank commander. You may have to green stuff more of the things on the models chest, but it might work... might

Right now, I'm concentrating on making something look remotly like it, so for now I'll work with some Karskins.

I'll check out the Kreig Corps, but I'll have to cut off the wires on the mask.

Look further afield than GW. A number of manufacturers make great gas mask heads. I'll try and dig up the links, but I suspect Kyoto or someone will jump in and post them before I can.

Following up on T-C's comment: I'd go with Cadians for the bodies (or if you want a more carapace-armor feel to make 'em Arbites, then a mix of the SM plastic scouts and Cadians) with Pig Iron Kolony Inner-Guard head sprues:

Or, get those heads to put on PI Infantry

Neal at the Warstore sells all the PI stuff.

If that doesn't tickle your pickle, check out West Wind's Secrets of the Third Reich (SOTTR) individual head range. there should be something workable there.

Not sure what you do for the stun-baton, though. Probably a conversion of a chainsword arm with either a weapon swap or just brass rod cut appropriately.

EDIT: Another option, if you wanted to stick with GW, would be the new(er) Van Saar heads. They come on a metal sprue of three, and two of them (?) have rebreathers--no helmet though, so you'd have to file/gs that bit of detail... If they're still available...

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

GREEN STUFF!

I just made a gasmask-ish lookalike, the eyes suck, and I don't have a huge colour selection, but it's something.

And the pictures suck, yes indeed.

Very nice. It actually does look like a combine soldier. Are you planning on doing a whole armie of these?
My only suggestion would be to thin the head a little.

Let me tell you that that was a VERY half-assed, five minute job in bad lighting. When I buy a bunch of Cadians, I'll remodel the heads, it's waaaaay easier on plastic.

And no, its for my Inquisitor GK force. But I might extend on them later.

I'm sure a more careful job will turn out fine, but I would really consider using premade heads (like the ones syr8766 linked to--the West Wind ones were what I had in mind). It's so much easier and they're not too expensive.

You could also look into using skulls from the Tomb King Skeleton Regiment as a basis. They are more rounded than the skulls on e.g. the Chaos Vehicle sprue so they already are pretty close in shape to the combine helmets. You would only need to add some collar to the back of the head, some lenses into the eye sockets and cover the teeth and "nose" with green stuff to get the rebreather part.

As I stride knee deep through the dead, all is clear. I know what must be done...

Does anyone have any ideas on which assassian would stick with the theme?

I think the combine had some stealth-guys who could turn invisible, climb on walls and generally kick your ass (or maybe it was from F.E.A.R?). Those would be great Callidus Assassins. Other then that, I think all the combine mobs where military-ich, so a Vindicare would be the other choice.

Nope, but they do have headcrabs. Lots of headcrabs.

Incedently, I may call my new tank; which I just know I'll be able to buy from all the money I get given by lazy ass relitives how can't be bothered to buy a real present, so they just send money instead (or, you know, just can't decide what to get me); Lamarr.

Striders? Hell yes

Striders will be awesome, but a nightmare to hide! Maybe you could make the legs telescoping.

As far as assassins go, the first HL had neat-o female assassins. Not Combine, but still broadly in theme.

BTW, sorry for being pedantic, but you don't use semi-colons (; ) that way. What you want are em-dashes (—).

I wonder how I would portray the Strider shooting it's uber super blue laser shoop da whoop cannon of doom? (The one that warps the view of everything around it)

And as for the assasians in HL1, you're talking about Black Ops.

I know what I'm talking about. I'm just saying that it would still be quite flavourful to use them.

They look combine-ish anyway.

Also, Striders would class as Lascannon Sentinals, wouldn't they?
