Alright thanks for all the advice from the last list I posted. I found out the tourney will be 1850 not 1700 so I redid my list and read over the codex a lot and found a lot of my errors. I think I have put together a more solid list with a lot more firepower. Here goes...

-HQ-
Flyrant - AG(I and WS), toxin sacs, wings, 2X scytals, warp field
197

Tyrant - enhanced senses, ex. carapace, TL devourers, venom cannon, toxin sacs, psychic scream, tyrant gaurd retinue(1 gaurd)
229

-Elites-
Carnifex - enhanced senses, scytals, TL dev.
111

-Troops-
Genestealers x12 - ex. carapace
240

Spinegaunts x32
160

Hormagaunts x20 - AG(I), toxin sacs
260

Hormagaunts x20 - AG(I), toxin sacs
260

-Heavy-
Carnifex - enhanced senses, ex. carapace, reinforced chititn, BS, VC
188

Carnifex - enhanced senses, reinforced chitin, BS, VC
163

Zoanthrope - synapse creature
45

Total: 1853
# of models: 91

I know the dakkafex should have 2 TL dev's but I already have the talons glued on and don't want to rip them off. Also I need to shave off 3 points but where? Ok gimme the feedback......

Seems fairly solid.

Try to find 20pts to give that poor zoan a warp blast.

If you kill two hormies you can get it and get yourself under 1850.

I think you are going to run into the same problem that I see with a lot of guant heavy Nid lists. They just don't have the staying power that monstrous creatures have and with only 3 True bullet sponges in the list your gaunts are going to get shot to a very small inefective number before they even reach your opponents lines.

What I would suggest would be to lower the number of hormaguants in each squad to 12 this should give you enough for 2 more Dakka Fexes. Split the Stealers into 2 units of 6 and just use the 5 Fexes and 2 Tyrants as a delivery system for the rest of your army.

Yea, I think everyone knows by now that Nid Zilla is the best list for Nids and probably one of the best lists in the game. But considering that the man wants a swarm... this one is not bad....

Alright I know the Nid Zilla bandwagon is a big one, and the nidzilla list does seem pretty powerful, but fluffwise it just doesn't do it for me. The fluff behind tyranids is endless swarms of chitin plates and clattering claws that break on the enemy wave after wave. How is an 1850 pt list with like 35 or less models like some nidzilla lists(*generalization*) endless swarms?!? Now I know that maybe the swarm list isn't too powerful now with the new codex, but I still like the idea(even though this isn't THAT much of a swarm list), it is one of the main things that drew me to collect a nid army, besides the wicked cool models. Anywho, I only have the number of monstrous creatures I have for fire support and cuz the new carni model is a 100 on a scale of 1-10! I certainly am not badmouthing anyone or attacking anyone for what has been said I just am saying that I am kind of opposed to the nid zilla list. I have had many good experiences with gaunts lately and the gaunts are one of my favorite models too and I already have a lot painted up

How do ya'll think this list will do in a tourney?

As long as you aren't forced into reserve with your army, you should be fine.

Last version of the Tyranid codex was the swarm army.

This one isn't.

might want to break up the spineguant brood into smaller broods with without number.

Any other comments from all you great nid players out there?

Sticking with your list rather than getting into the nidzilla debate.

I'd get implant attack on the winged tyrant, if you can't find the points then i'd drop toxin sacs for it - he excels at killing multi wound MCs and ICs, implant makes him way better at that, and even losing toxin for it still makes him better at it than without. If you find him taking on normal units then the toxin sacs is probably not going to make an enormous difference to the overall result - he'll probably either win or lose irrespective of that.

I'd split the stealers and spines into 2 units each, that gives you 2 extra scoring units, and more flexibility - you can still operate them together if you need. Which you may have to because...

You seem to have a lack of synapse for 1850 pts. The winged tyrant really doesn't want to be tied to synapse coverage except as an emergency, but that would only leave 1 walking tyrant and a zoey. The single zoey is sufficiently easy to kill that you'll be down to 1 tyrant quick enough. Given that your elite fex is not a dakkafex (and you say you don't want to change him) then id drop it for some warriors - 116pts will get you 4 warriors with T/L devourers, so you'd get far more shooty firepower than your elite fex and provide some extra synapse. Dropping 1 spine gaunt will cover that.

I know I am a little stretched for synapse but everyone says warriors are just not worth it and die to easily. I think it really depends on your personal experience with them but still....

If you were comparing to a dakkafex I'd probably agree - but we aren't, we are comparing to your talons + devourer fex. He'll die as fast (or faster) as 4 warriors if the other guy wants him to but doesn't exactly do much whilst he's alive. The warriors bring more firepower and provide synpase, plus you get kudos for not bringing an elite fex!.

Alternatively you could drop the fex for 2 more zoeys and extra psy powers on them.

I just have essentially the same comments I had with your last list. Even under the assumption that you don't want to go Godzilla your list has serious issues.

1) Taking one unit of Genestealers simply means your opponent will focus on that unit and kill it. At the very least I'd split them into two separate units (I'd bump each one up to 8 man strong if it were me).

2) Putting that many points into Hormagaunts without fully upgrading them is just silly. The difference between WS4 & 5 is huge when you are fighting any enemy with WS4.

3) For that many Gaunts, you don't have enough Synapse. You need to be taking 3 Zoanthropes with Synapse and Warp Blast.

4) Your Elite fex isn't doing anything for you. You're better off just leaving him at home to give you some points to spend on Zoanthropes, Hormagaunts and Genestealers.

5) The same goes for the Carapace on the Gunfex. By giving one of your Gunfexes the upgrade it is kind of pointless. It just means your opponent will fire all their AP2 weapons at that fex and the one without the Carapace will get everything else.
