I use gw's matte varnish, it keeps the paint from rubbing off or get scratched, when playing.

I use one coat of Krylon low odor Gloss Varnish, followed 24 hrs later by one coat of Krylon low odor Matte Varnish. They prevent the paint from being rubbed/scratched off by foam transports, by being dropped on floors/tables etc. I seal all my finished models.

You need the Matte because the gloss is too shiny and looks awful. But the Matte isn't very strong protection, so you need a layer of Gloss first for strength.

didn't know that. thanks.

i prefer testors dullcoat for varnish.

if you use a matte varnish be prepared to have any highlights (if you have them) become less noticible. experience has taught me to over-highlight just a bit to counteract the "dulling" effect.

take care,
