Why the hell (please excuse my french) do the orks have a special character that is going to have Toughness 6 and a 2+ Invul Save? What is the point? Is is just because hes green or what, sure i know GWs reasoning that the power of the WAAAAGH! gives him the save but WHY?!!

my chaos lord can deal 18 strength 6 Power Weapon attacks. beat that

Umm...what the heck are you talking about? I'm going to guess here that you're talking about Ghazghkull Thraka, the Ork special character.

1) He doesn't have T6
2) His invulnerable save only lasts for the turn, just like it does in the current codex.

Maybe you should read the codex first before posting online, eh?

Yeah, its T5 and a necron lord with a warsyth or a GK with those inv save defeating bullet thingys will really ruin his day.

Besides if you don't have one of those, just wait a turn, it will go away. Pretty much solves all your problems.

In the 2nd Edition Ork Codex, Ghazghkull was able to become completely invulnerable for one turn; this is nothing compared to that. You're paying PLENTY of points for him, and it's usually tough for a character that pricey to make his points back.

I was wrong about his invul save on closer inspection it does only last one turn thank you Zoned. I understand that in third edition he has Toughness 5 but I heard that it was going to be upgraded to toughness 6. Is this true?

PS: I dont own the codex my friend quoted these rules to me. Guess that tells me what kind of friend he is!

Nope, not T6 for Ghazghkull. But he has an invulnerable save from his Cybork Body.

Ghazghkull's Waaaagh!!! lasts for effectively 2 Ork turns and one opponent turn. He waaaagh!s at the beginning of his turn and it lasts until the end of the next Ork turn. Effectively he has a 2+IVS for an entire ork turn, the following opponents turn and the entire ork turn that follows - that is a long time.

As Mondo already pointed out in the other thread, you're wrong. It lasts for the Ork turn and then one additional player turn (your opponent's).

OK, I reread the rules and see the difference between Ghazghkull's Waaaagh!! and a standard Waaaagh!. Ghazghkull's can be called at anytime - even on an opponents turn (hence the use of the words "remainder of that player turn") - while the regular Waaagh! can only be done during the "Ork players shooting phase".

Ghazghkulls Waaagh! will make his 2+ save INV effectively for 1 full turn only (the half of the turn in which it is called and the following half resulting in a full turn).

Thank you for helping to clarify my error.

It would be a lot less confusing if they just said that the waaaagh invul save lasted for one game turn, instead of the three paragraphs of jibberish in the codex.

They do just say that. In a paragraph consisting of two sentences. One sentence gives you the duration. The other sentence unambiguously says that his save becomes invulnerable during that time.

right they made it a paragraph of nonsense instead of the invul save lasts one game turn. now isnt that so much easier?

No. Although one game turn is comprised of two player turns, it has a duration that begins with a specific player's turn (the one who went first in the game) and ends with the other player's turn.

If Ghazghkull's ability lasted "one game turn", then if I called his Waaaagh! in the 'bottom half' of the game turn an argument could be made that the ability only lasts until the end of that particular game turn.

The proper way to write the rule to avoid any confusion is precisely how they wrote it: The Waaagh! lasts exactly two player turns.

Really? Why is that?

If a power lasts for one "player turn" and you use it in the shooting phase do you assume the power lasts into the opposing player's movement phase? Or do you assume it ends at the end of the player turn?

So if a power lasted one game turn and you used it the 'bottom half' of that game turn, why would you assume the power would run into the following game turn?

Well, there´s a little niche to get Ghaz´s Waaagh! over 2 turns.
You can call it during your opponents turn and it will last until your turn is over or vice versa but than just for one round.

Example: You call da Waaagh! during your opponents turn and after you´ve done your stuff in the 2nd round. This way the Waaagh! will lasts from the end of the 2nd turn (your opponents) until the end of your turn in the 3rd round. That wont cut it in most cases but well, it´s something to have in the back if needed.
There´s nothing mentioned about one round, it clearly says it lasts for two turns no matter if they´re in 2nd and 3rd round, 3rd and 4th or all in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on.
But you cant use it in 1st round like the cookie cutter Waaagh!

Another thing: There´s no way to make Ghaz T6. Piss poor because of Mega Armor, but well, that´s how it is.
At least he cant killed by instant death *hrhr*

Not sure what you're getting at here... Regardless of when it's called, it lasts for the remainder of the current player's turn, and up to the end of the next player's turn.
