I was wondering if anyone could help me decide on Slaanesh or Nurgle? I like them both but I don't really know much about which would be better in an actual game,or which style of play I would prefer.Help much appreciated

Slaanesh tends to be a bit better for a Mortal army. The magic lore is very good, Immunity to Psychology really helps with Chaos' (relatively) poor LD, and the mark is fairly inexpensive.

The Mark of Nurgle does in part help with psychology, but it's bloody expensive for anything but a Chariot. Since Knights and characters are expensive already (though reasonably so) and Warriors are overpriced to begin with, the Mark of Nurgle is hard to justify, points-wise.

Nurgle is a bit better for Beasts, however. On Minotaurs and Giants it gives them decent armor saves, and the price doesn't break the bank.

Either Mark won't much change your style of play; a chaos list is more dependent on the selection of units for that.

Slaneesh: Great (albeit expensive) magic, reliable troops if marked, some good fast stuff or options for that. (SoC demon legion slaneesh is extra fast).
Nurgle: Poor magic due medicore spells, marked stuff causes fear altough has problems with panic. Excellent tough demons if you use storm of chaos demonic legion list. Nurgle is often though out as the weakest of Hordes of Chaos themes playing power wise.

Not surprisingly most of the general chaos stuff will apply to both of these themes such as characters being good fighters, chosen knights hitty etc.

Slannesh is a better list. People hate it because you can kinda control where the enemy moves. That is invaluable. You could have an enemy unit walk into charge range of you knights.

If Rampage Jackson was in warhammer, he would be an ork.

Slaanesh is better if your looking for a magic phase that can win games. I play slaanesh and the army runs smoothly. I had a chariot with the mark of slaanesh charged a varghulf and killed it with impact hits. I know luck was involved, but that was the day the slaanesh chariots were written into the history books.

Slaanesh FTW

yes, but nurgle = gross sweetness. sure, nurgle is not power gamer material, but still, nurgle is awesome. so i vote nurgle if you want a fun, nasty looking army, and slaanesh if you want an army that will be nasty to play with. And if you like a 3 rack on every model.

SM- Lets roll to see who goes first
Nob- Urgh...ok, I got a 6
SM- Oops, looks like I got an 8, so I go first
Nob- You got a 8 on a 6 sided die?
SM- Um, yep.
Nob- Space marines.....
