Just a comment on below. Since the "new" IG codex left out the griffon and exterminator "for space reasons", according to official sources, I simply take along a griffon anyway and field it. I have never had anyone complain, although i'm sure in a tourney situation it will not be allowed for some reason. Let us hope that when GW finally redoes the IG codex the vanquisher, exterminator and griffon are put back in.

The list below is for all-comers, although the emphasis is on dealing to MEQ and termi-heavy armies. I seem to play a lot of CSM armies as well with oblits and termis,hence the massive number of demo charges.

Abuse welcome.

Standard DROP List
Doctrines:
1: DROP TROOPS 2: Close order drill 3: Chameleone, 4: Allow Vets 5: Allow SW Squads

HEAVY SUPPORT:
2 Basilisk with IDF, 1 with icomms: 270pts
1 Griffon: 75pts

TROOPS:
A Platoon: HQ with 1 junior officer with Bolter, 1 heavy bolter: 61pts
2 squads, each 1 lascannon: 190pts
B platoon: HQ with 1 junior officer with Bolter, 1 heavy bolter: 61pts
2 squads, each with 1 autocannon: 170pts

ELITES
2 Vet squads, both with 3 melta: 170pts DEEP STRIKE
2 Daemonhosts: 170pts

HQ: Schaeffer and Kage: 110pts
4 Last chancers each with 1 plasma gun: 104pts DEEP STRIKE
Last chancer with demo charge: 26pts DEEP STRIKE
Last chancer with demo charge: 26pts DEEP STRIKE
Last chancer with demo charge: 26pts DEEP STRIKE

2 Special wpns squads EACH with: 1 Demo charge, 1 with flamer: 119pts DEEP STRIKE

1 Inquisitor Lord with BP/powerwpn, Psychic Hood, 2 Mystic with LP/CCW) 1 familiar, 1 warrior with flamer, Rhino with XA, smoke 172pts

Rhino for the Inq Lord is questionable if you actually intend him to move across the board. Don't think you do but you did give the Rhino extra armor...

Daemonhosts are a nice touch.

All those doctrines seem like you are confused. They don't apply to the last chancers, and won't help the Inq or the drop squads or the daemonhosts.

How do you survive against mobile armies that pummel marines with higher T and better saves, and more bodies than you have?

Seems like a very static and small firebase, you hide the Inq so he can 'mystic' people up; use the rhino as a shield for the basilisks, and run pretty much everything else at the other guy and hope he doesn't make it into your firebase.

I think heavy mechanized lists (Tau, Eldar, Dark Eldar) would crunch this army. TMC too, you don't have enough bodies in your drop troops to crunch through 8 of them AND stop the gaunts/stealers from getting to your lines.

It is very interesting, but seems to rely heavily on several gimmicks; namely deep strike prevention while using your own deep strike. What happens when deep strike isn't in play? None of those units have range enough to be a real threat offensively, though they do make excellent countercharge suicide units.

The drop units are for taking table quarters and taking out high value units like termies, oblits and enemy tanks with melta guns etc.

The doctrines are for my IG of course, as they dont apply to last chancers of daemonhosts. I consider +1 LD and +1 init for COD to be valuable, as well as chameleone to provide better cover saves for the guard. The last chancers are purely suicide units, so it does not matter if they have no advantage from doctrines like chameleone.

The firebase is smallish because of the points spent on the 10 deep striking units.

I have generally found this doctrine mix to be very effective, and in our games Deep strike is always "ON", so that's why I take it. DS is the only cheap way to givwe mobility to Gaurd, because Chimeras certainly aren't cheap.

The rhino is purely for last turn or 2 charging up the board to take objectives or table quarters, if that is what is needed. Generally the IQL squad stays back though to cover the artillery line against deep striking oblits and other nasties. The rhino is not for covering anything - the arty line will always be out of line of sight.

Hmmm. Play some games outside your comfort zone.

You'll improve as a player. No offense is intended here, just saying...it's easy to program when there are absolutes.

Alrighty. First off: You need a Command Platoon. There is no way to get around this. So your list is illegal as is.

The last chancers unit is the command platoon. It can be used as such - it says so in the IG faq sheet V4.0.1 downloadable from any GW site.

That only applies in an all Last Chancer army which this is not.

Correct.

You can still use the Last Chancers to satisfy troops choices, but that's it.

Gotta have the command platoon in all other IG armies.
