While I search frantically for anything and everything Therion has written on the subject, I should warn you that the new VC book is due out sometime soon (I presume in the next year, if not the next six months), and that information you get might change. I wouldn't buy anything until seeing the new book, but until then, let me see if I can't furnish you with some Therion gold.

Here's a Therion thread over on the Warhammer forums that gives you one of his lists but initially is rather short on how to use it. But you'll get the idea once you read the whole thread. It's great.

Depends on the type of list you want to run.

Lots of magic vs normal magic (which is more than most armys field anyways)?

Use the elite cav or rely more on blocks of infantry?

Finess/subtle tactics vs sledgehammer?

I would wait for the new book to be released in the next few months (I do believe it will be the next release from GW). Until then I would focus on having a good bit of skeletons with HW/Shield/Light Armor and Dire Wolves on the board. Then have a good amount of Zombies to raise. Focus heavy on magic and understanding the basics of Undead and that will be a good start.

Regarding vampire counts, it's indeed wise to wait couple months for the new book as it's bound to change things.
This also means that stuff in that (old) linked thread will be obsolete, altough it's a good history lesson of sorts how annoying summon horde was in 6th ed.

I read that thread about the Syllvanian summoning horde and I'm really not too concerned about it. I generally run a large block of on-foot chosen infantry that can take any summoned unit on the teeth and grind it to nothingness. Coordinating some sort of rear + flank charge with black knights in the front more often than not does more harm than good as the skeletons just FEED me combat resolution. I'll drive forward towards that necromancer unit as fast as I can and I'll sacrifice all my other units along the way if I have to.

And oftentimes I find that if you concentrate on just dispelling the movement-related spells from the VC, all they end up with is a bunch of skeleton units that wander around uselessly. Granted I've never faced THAT much summoning power, but I've faced all-necromancer lists and I've never been too concerned.

Black Knights *feed* you combat resolution by charging in the flank?! Wouldn't you have to kill 4 more of them than they kill of you to profit (what with losing ranks and the flank bonus going their way).

What kind of setup on Chosen do you have?
