Hello I am a new member here. I have been playing Warhammer and 40k (along with assorted other games) for around ten years now and have accumulated rather a lot of models over the years though regretably many have vanished through various unfortunate circumstances.

I am currently on a bit of a mad painting and modelling frenzy owing to a fear that I may be developing arthritis and won't be able to do this any more in a few years. I want to get as much done as possible before it becomes too difficult. The current project is yet another Chaos Space Marine Army (Black Legion on thic occasion, though some World Eaters may be enticed to join). I am not sure how long I can stay focussed on that though because I have some lovely new High Elf models that are just screaming "paint me".

I don't get the chance to play battles too often these days so I am mainly focused on the painting and modelling side of things now (and of course perusing background materials). Which is kind of ironic because I am not very good at painting models (and getting worse with my hand not being what it was). I am pretty good at modelling though. At least with plastic.

When I do get to play my preferences vary. Warhammer Fantasy was certainly my favourite game for a long time, but I reckon I kind of "cracked" it, basically learning certain tactics that guaranteed victory against non competitive gamers and as I am not a tournament player, that wasn't particularly fun. My skills at 40k are less impressive, though I'm not helpless, and that paradoxically makes the game more fun. Consequently when I do get to play I tend to prefer a game of 40k these days. I also hope to play a bit of Fantasy again hopefully against more competitive players and also handicapping myself with less familiar armies (such as High Elves),

I guess my biggest gaming ambition though is to finally defeat a Tyranid army in a proper game. I once won a 500pt game against a player who had never used Tyranids before, but apart from that they always beat me badly!

Welcome to dakka! I am sure there are a few other members on here with arthritis as well who might be able to offer you some hints on working around it. Things like using vice grips (GW just released a decent one), airbrushes, hand positions, etc. If you find anything that helps out then please share it with us too!

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
