Hey guys, I am working on a baneblade scratch build from a Tamiya 1:32 kit, and putting it partiall together have realized it is pretty small by 40k standards. Well, giant compared to other tanks, but not baneblade size.

Does anyone have a baneblade they could measure quickly for me and post the dimensions? I want to see what they should be so I can figure what manner of mangling I have to do to this beautiful tank to make it work. Or decide it is WAY too much work and start something else until I loose enough sanity to just buy a baneblade and convert it to my purposes.

So... cookie to the loyal servant of the Imperium who first sends me fairly detailed specs! (Height, width and length at least, with bonus info being appreciated!)

Ok I'll do my best at this,I work in metric best btw

Length: 22cm from the rear tracks to the front tracks. 20cm from the engine to the front of the tank.
Width: 14cm Not including Sponsons. 18cm including sponsons
Height: 6 cm from the bottom of the tracks to the top of the main body. Add a further 1.5cm for the main gun mount.

Hope that helps man, Good luck with the baneblade.

Those dimensions are for the FW baneblade (roughly 9" x 5.5" sans sponsons). The plastic one is is a bit bigger. Something like an inch or so longer.

Nope I gave the Plastic one, 95e in me FLGS Unless there is a major difference between two plastic models.

Actually, while we're at it: what are the dimensions of the main turret? I'm thinking of sticking it on a leman russ ('cause that's how I roll)

The mounting is about 3.5cm in Diameter. Add an extra cm for the locks for the turret.

The main barrel is about 10cm with the turret itself another 8cm(I put on the command radio section)

Really? I've got a mostly built scratch build that I based off of the measurements of the FW one and your numbers match it almost exactly. Maybe they're not as different sized as I was led to believe.

Well, I'll be damned, that's not so bad then. The model I have is 4.25W x 8.5L x 3H put together. Only about half as wide, but just a smidge shorter in the other directions. A little bit of extra armor and sponsons on the side, along with some Inquisitorial bling, and it isn't that off at all. I will have to replace the gun with something bigger. The 120mm barrel is only about as big as an autocannon.

For a despised, traitorous cultist, you aren't so bad Voodoo Chile! Your purgation will be swift and involve as little burning as possible!

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Wehrkind, the original epic baneblades varied in size. The first edfition ones were squatter than the current ones. The basic size of other tanks hasnt changed as much.

Your Banebladecan afford to be a little out as there is clearly no standardisation of design. after all the current plastic kit is differently scaled to the Forgeworld one.

On that note the Armorcast Baneblade is based on the original Epic model, and ias significantly snmaller than the Forgeworld and plastic versions.

So compare your Baneblade to other vehicles ou own and refer that to pictures of Baneblades and other vehicles. If you have some Russ somewhere compare them to the Tamiya set in the same pose as a Russ & Baneblade picture.

However if its a little small or a little big, no worries, just so long as its armed correctly.

Just a note: Why not buy a plastic set, and relegate yout Tamiya kit for something else. You can pick up Baneblades cheaply enough, other superheavies are more pricey, and some like the Stormhammer are not represented at all at present.

As you say your tank is slightly smaller, I would go for one of the single gun super heavies. Also you have an asymaterical chassis for the Baneblade which can be problematical for scratchbuilds from other tank kits. Whatr is the Tamiya chassis. If its a Grant it would make a nice Baneblade, if a standard tank with a center turret you have somehard work.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

The man has a point, If ya wanted to make a Shadowsword out of your Tamiya and use the the Volcano Cannon rules from the Titan page it might work out better depending on how your tank looks.

Just one big feck off sized gun barrel and your deploying titan weaponry onto the field.

Hmmm good points.
The chasis is a 1:32 Merkava (Looks a lot like an M1A2 Abrahms, if you are not familier). The main reason I wanted to just convert a kit is that I can't really justify spending 80-100$ on a Baneblade, particularly since I intend to modify it a bit to look more inquisitorial anyway. 40$ seemed like a good deal (and honestly, I still think it is since it has SO many little bits and details.)

I don't have any Russes, but the old Rhino is a little smaller, and the new almost the same size. With the Immolator turret it is the same size just about. I thought I had a pic on Flickr, but I will have to take on when I get home.

I honestly am still tempted to just buy the bloody baneblade, since cutting into the front of the Merkava will be a pain. A Shadowsword looks like a decent option though. Are they in the new Imperial Armor Apocalypse book? I had been tempted to buy that anyway, so I wouldn't mind picking it up for the rules.

According to the Forgeworld site IA:Apoc contains the Shadowsword rules.

Here's a picture of an Immolator and the Merkava side by side. You can see the Immo is pretty much the same height to the shoulder and the turret.

Not terrible, but perhaps needs a little buffin.

This is WAY too funny. I too have the same Merkava model, and am in the process of kitting it out as a Baneblade. Just picked up some "For Sale" signs in lieu of plasticard to make side sponsons etc. I'll try to post when Im done....
