Subject: Help with Snakebite army........

I'd really like to make a new Ork army based on the Snakebite fluff. The problem I'm having is trying to find effective units to use that aren't too advanced considering they prefer the old ways.
I've converted around 150 regular troop boys so far, using fantasy ork models and adding 40k bits. They've turned out well and now I'm trying to figure out what to do next.
I already have plans to convert a squad of bikes to cyboars, as well as a unit of kommandos with Snikrot (Going to make some hunter types with a nice conversion for the Snikrot)
The problem is wanting to use a unit, but not really knowing how to "fit" it in if that makes sense? I would love to use a unit of Lootas, but I'm not too sure they'd fit the theme
I would love for anyone with any suggestions to pipe in and maybe throw some ideas of units that would work well as well as some units that could possibly be converted to fit the look. One idea I had for Tankbustas was to take fantasy spear arms and make bands of dynamite and fix them to the end of the spears.
Please send me some ideas, or thoughts!
Peace!

well, first of all: if you want to do a "real" snakebite army, you'll have to live with the fact that some untis may just not fit in.
but do not despair, since even less advanced orks tend to use big weapons
just pack and extra canister with arrows on top, and tadaa: a S7 AP4 repeating mega crossbow...thingy....I guess...
the spear/dynamit idea sounds nice too. how about for tankbusta boms: they carry around bucckets filled with several explosives, grenades and stuff and just hold on the side of the enemy tank. also, I suppose some sort of crossbow with boms attached to it would also make nice rokkit launchas.
I have here an early 4th edition orks concept sketch for kommandos, maybe that will give you an idea
well, let's see, what's left for snakebites....I remember: in the old wildboy list from Inomine Imperatoris (back in the days when the white dwarf was interesting ) their transport was basically still a truck, only that they put lot of boars in front of it.
and altough Cyborks are a great idea, you might wanna try something like this
hope that helped...

Thanks so much for the help! I love the concept art soooo much and wish they'd have used more of it! I like the ideas of the spear chuckers a lot, and was thinking around the same lines. I wonder how anal some folks would be if I use models for units that are more accurate when trying to make a snakebite list as opposed to some of actual models made? As long as they were GW I'd think they'd be okay, but I'd hate to get to a GT next year and run into someone anal.
I'd love any more ideas from folks peeking in and thank you so much for the awesome reply!!!!!!
Peace,
wOOkie

and of course, a bunch of fantasy wildboys (maybe with sluggas, maybe not) would also make a great addition.
as for your tournament problem: as far as I know there are a lot fantasy orc Models out there, but nothing like GW Orks, altough Confro has some nice stuff....

Take some Fantasy Arrer Boyz and model them to have mini-Rokkit tips on their arrows. That could work for the Lootas. Your other ideas sound fine.

thoguth of something else this day. you can use different sord of weirdboys as replacement meks. I suppose that at least a few Weirdboys out there should be able to create some sort of force field

I'd use the spearchukka for big gunz, but that's me. Snakebitz, at least in the second edition dex, were linked to weirdboyz and grotz, so I'd include each of those.
As Anung said, you might have to leave some units out because they're not 'snakebitey' enough. It also depends how far along the orky evolutionary chain you want them. If you're adding shootas, sluggas, they're somewhat advanced - maybe you're just into the "everyone still wears fur and leather but carries big guns" stage. And you could always get some snake minis to add to nobz, etc. to make them stand out.
Lootas could use the new sprue but put on fantasy heads. I'd probably include one sprue (4) of the new lootas to make it clear what the unit is, and then convert around it. I've considered buying a box of IG heavy weapons, then just strapping a few together for a deff gun - then they might look looted and/or bartered from hoomies. Orks are intuitively 'mechanical', so some of them are going to strap together whatever they can get and you can call them lootas.
For trukks, maybe add some horns or a big animal skull to it. Maybe use the fantasy chariot.
I'd use the spearchukka as an artillery weapon (kannon maybe?).

that might work. of course, you would still have to attach some dynamite
catapults (loobas) are als oan obvious choice

for lootas:
Orks firing huge bolt throwers. That would probably work in game too as d3 hits = spears going through 2 or 3 people
