hi everyone! man have i been busy lately... been forever since i've posted some of my stuff here, i think last time was some BFG ships i was (and still am ^^;; ) working on...

...but enough talk of regrets! I've finally got off my rump and finished painting some models- but more than that, I've decided to "go into business" you could say with a good friend of mine! we recently sparked to life our beloved "Expulse Studios", and these termies are the debut auction, please, I'd love to know what you think!:

The models were built, converted, pinned and primed by my good friend and "business partner", and painted by myself. C&C greatly welcomed ^^

(oh, btw, you can um "see more pics" at the auction -> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330204405038)

Very nice!

I like how you've used plenty of black and the gold helmets look good too. Helps move them away from the GW style which i find too 'cartoony' and bright.

Keep up the good work.

Excellent stuff there, Sir. The only thing I can say is that the Power Sword looks a little 'DA'-know what I mean? Other than that, the attention to detail is fantastic! I am sure you and your Bus. partner will do very well.

thanks for the comments *blush*

i was a bit worried the darker/less red scheme would be a bit ill-received, so im glad to hear at least someone likes it ^^

painting these guys up made me absolutely hate GW reds T.T... started out with the foundation red paint, but even that required 3-4 thin layers to get actual even coverage, then had to do practically the same with blood red... so maybe you can see why i shied a bit away from extensive red

anywho i just noticed the middle guy in the middle pic, his left (your right) knuckles look like they're cut out/reflecting blue- thats just my screw-up in photoshop when editing the background, pay no heed to it ^^;;

akira5665, i can see what you mean by the sword, i was thinking of making the energy strands blue instead, but i liked how the green mirrors the green on his banner, so i stuck with that

Hey Mr Bom, I can see why after carefully checking the pics, as a colour theme, I can see why you did the PS that way. By no means take any of my points seriously though, as those figs make mine look like Vincet Van Gough on 'Acid'.

Man o man, you guys are going to make some good $$$'s with that kind of work. It really is a shame about some of the GW colours/thickness isn't it? I have that same issue with the various 'yellows' there are.

*sigh* one day, I may be able to paint as well..........

I wasn't aware that Blood Angels could take terminators as I've never seen it happen before. Who knew?

Ahtman, as far as i know, as per the 'new' blood angels debut in White Dwarf, termies are perfectly legal

p.s. akira5665- at least it's more "rewarding" after you put all that hard work into getting a red red or a yellow yellow x.x

Thats just a myth perpetuated by Space Hulk. Everyone knows there is no such thing as a Blood Angel terminator.

Very nice stuff man, power swords in red armies should be blue imho though, otherwise you're straying dangerously close to xmas marine land...

It does kind of look like they're checking the fields and those barrels will eventually pop open and little terminators will scurry out though, no offense haha

He didn't cut his ear for a girl, he did it for Paul Gauguin

I frankly think that you should've avoided the yellow helmets on terminators, at least on "tactical" ones. The yellow helmet is reserved for Assault Squads - the Gold is Honour Guard only (I think that Veterans use yellow helmets, too). Anyway, just a bit of a fluff correction here, hope you don't take it wrongly.

Finally, I have to say "AMEN". You did a wonderful job, though I understand your pain with the reds as all my attempts in painting anything that comes close to it end in me breaking my brushes in frustration. Even painting a regular Blood Angel, with white undercoat and blood red, is a traumatizing affair.

I salute you for your patience and the good results you've obtained, and keep up your good work

really? i heard Paul was his dealer xP

yeah, coulda stuck a bit more to fluff, but my partner suggested gold helmets and i said "ya kno what, that'd look badass "

ah so you know (and as you can probably tell), did these with a black undercoat... i suppose if i tried white, the reds would be easier, but i absolutely detest light undercoats... i've pretty much always painted from dark to light ^^

I could tell due to the more muted colours and the knee joint on some of the terminators (actually hard to say exactly how, you just know when it was primed black or white) - I was talking about the fact that GW's reds are (at least for me) hard to paint over a white undercoat. Even thin coats usually spoil it for me because the end results suck, even if the color is smooth.

And I think that painting the helmets gold does look badass and if they're for selling it'd be a point in favour, as they look different and, well, special (at the lack of a better complement).

Maybe it's just me, but I used the "2nd" Edition paints (the bigger ones) and they had a great coverage. These ones nowadays, I found lacking. Metallics like bronze and gold look terrible even over black. My bet is they're putting less pigment in order to decrease costs...

not to mention making smaller paint pots, and even smaller foundation paint pots... x.x

...too bad im addicted to the color distribution of GW acrylics

Any possibilities of putting together a small force? I know most professional painters stick to doing single characters or small squads/single vehicles, but it would be cool to pick up say a 1500 point force that looked this good.

well, already finished the next two "batches" to put on auction after these guys sell- a 5-man Death Company squad, and a Blood Angels Land Raider ^^

...and yeah, we plan to do more Blood Angels stuff if these sell well (termies arent doin too well rite now tho.. x.x)

That was my first thought looking at them. Only I'd also highlight the blue to an almost white. They look really good; I really like the black power fists.
