I thought the 3 land speeders had been mades in plastic but I can't find them on the GW site?

Am I missing something?

Battlewagon bitz has plastic bitz for a Typhoon and tons of Dark Angel gobbings, but there's not Ravenwing LS listed.

If you check the bitz for each one they're the metal-plastic versions.

And the ravenwing one isn't up at all.

As far as I'm aware, the only whole plastic kit was the regular Landspeeder. The Tornado and Typhoon used metal bits. I may not be up to date though.

IIRC the only all-plastic Landspeeder variants was the parts included on the Ravenwing sprue. At least that's the only source for those parts in plastic that leaps to my mind.

Didn't someone even post a small thread here on Dakka comparing details on the plastic vs the metal parts?

Yep, it's from the DA sprue. I bummed a couple of those sprues for my crisis suit Longbows.

I used the 'Bones of Innocents' to make my Land Speeder, they fit together easier and the glue sets faster.

As for trying to stick the pewter onto those kits, I have 30 Assault Marines.

so... GW has a plastic LS varient sprue but it's only available in the Ravenwing box?

It's even worse than that, I'm afraid. It isn't a specific LS-sprue as such, but just enough bits on the Ravenwing sprue. So unfortunately you cannot order just the LS parts.

And the sprue itself cannot be bitz ordered either. So I if I want a plastic Typhoon or Tornado I can pay $90 for a landspeeder and 5 bikes and tones of feathers and robed angels and suchwot.

The DA bike squadron comes with the upgrade sprue and retails for $35, $10 cheaper than the SM bike squadron. The sprue has enough parts to make two tornados and one typhoon and you can easily eBay the bikes for $20+, not to mention the rest of the DA parts.

Being a DA player, I have to say that the extra bits you get more than make up for the extra cost. Forget the DA proprietary bits, you still get lots of generic extras. And, yes, tons of extra speeder bits. Send me a PM of what you need, I bought 4 of the RW squad boxes, so I got more than I will ever use.

The idea I'm playing with is an olive drap SM force, with white stars on their shoulders, helicoptors as drop pods then lots of speeders as gunships. Maybe Westwind baret heads for some squads. Maybe replace GW bolters with more high-tech looking guns from Warzone or Void.

Going to a military look rather than a gothic one.

sounds really cool, are you converting the speeders or using them as-is?

I might get some cheap toy helicoptors, chop of the tails and add them to make the LS look more like gunships.

But my new chaos army and new toys for my old chaos army are still priorities.
