I really not a big fan of chimeras, so Im just dropping my infantry. Most of them are sucide squads anyway, so I dont think its much of a problem. I know sents are fragile, but I figure with all the other armor out there, my opponent should have more important things to worry about.
If there is something im missing, of just something fundamental im not getting, please feel free to let me know =)

They do not count as "Guard Infantry" so Doctrines do not apply to them. The only way they can drop is if you take them as Storm Troopers in an Elite slot. They come with the option as an upgrade then.

Start dropping units and start buying chimeras
You'll probably need to start by dropping all the sentinels and making one of the demolishers into an LBT. that should get you the points to buy two chimeras with autocannons for the troops (or fairly close).
Then I would give the grenadiers the meltaguns if you can (I forget) and put plasma on all the veteran squads. The HQ squad and two grenadier squads with meltas, some autocannons, drop pod plasmas, and the LBT's should be fine for antitank.
I'm not an expert on mecha guard, just giving some basic thoughts. Take'em with salt.

I feel with this list I really don't have much AT, and it worries me. I might just forget about the grenadiers, and get a regular platoon with lascannon squads. That way I have reasonably reliable AT that can survive some hits.

I would disagree, i'd say that you have a more than competent AT force for a 1500 point game. I mean you have 13 melta guns that are drop forces which would obviously be the spearhead of any anti tank needs you might have, 4 plasma guns and a plasma pistol for lighter vehicles, MC, and MEQ to back them up, and then you are forgetting the fact that your 3x Tanks have the option of either shooting their cannons combos at vehicles. With most opponents at 1500 points you should have little to no difficulty punching through tanks my main concern would be fighting say a nidzilla army as I think the MC and swarms would be a combo to hard for you to handle. If anything id suggest one less demolisher and replace it with LR with HB setup to be able to react to swarm armies better, and use the extra points to round off a few things like smoke etc.

I think its a good list. Are you really attached to the Chimeras? If not, you could go for the full drop list using Last Chancers. Check out this list for an example:

Good list except that in the Imperial Guard Codex the Command Platoon is a 1+ choice, meaning you need to take it. Now in the IG FAQ it states that if you take a pure Last Chancer Army Schaffer and Kage can be used as your mandatory HQ, but your list is not pure Last Chancer. My suggestion would be to drop one Hardened Vet squad for the required Command Squad with Junior Officer and 4 Guardsman with your choice of Meltaguns or Plasma Guns.

kinda offtopic but what would I convert for melta guns? I heard about using the flamers but im alittle unsure as to how effective that really is

It looks great to me maybe a few last chancers converting from melta to plasma, but thats more of a personal preference.
An idea for the extra 5 points is possibly a rough terrain mod for the demolisher so you can get from point a to b with less effort.

well with another 350 points id start off with 2 more vet squads, 1 with plasma set ups and 1 with meltagun set ups, another hellhound, upgrade 1 LR to a demolisher (same set up as the other 1) and give your leman russ and 3 hellhounds EA. If I did it right I have exactly 1850.

unfortunately I already have 2 vet squads, so I cant add another 2 in, but I did add 1 and then add some more last chancers. I also took your advice about the vehicles, so heres what the new list looks like.

Well again if I added it correctly I believe you have 112 points left to spend, so possibly take 3x lascannons as a support squad under your HQ? That would be 110 points and would give you something to punch through monoliths and anything rather nasty that needed extra attention. The more I think about it the lascannons are actually kind of a must for that very reason, otherwise your gonna be hurting against necrons, and it certainly wont hurt to have that extra ap2 punch to throw at terminators etc.
Id say now you should be good to go, looks like a very solid list.

I just redid the math twice, and it comes out to 1848. If you really think I need the lascannons I could drop a vet squad and a last chancer, that would probably be enough

Well I hope that helps im off to bed, id definitely say that its a must to take those lascannons though, and my thinking was your picking up 3x lascannons and losing 2x meltas so your AT doesnt suffer, and im not sure about the smokes, you might be better off dropping the smokes from the hellhounds as people are more likely to worry about a near 200 point tank than your hellhounds.
If you feel comfortable maybe drop the plasma pistol from your junior officer instead of dropping the smokes? Its kind of a preference thing so id say its up to you.

LRD with plas/las is very pricey.
LRD get killed often and early, so you might want to bring some more lascannon squads.
I run a very similar list, I leave killing tanks to the regular BS3 IG with meltaguns and put the plasmaguns on BS4.
Personally I'd probably revise all the LRD to LRBT to give you more horde killing power at longer ranges.
Cheaper and gives you more points.
Oh and the Vet Sarge with the plasma pistol never makes his points up. Just drop him out of the squad entirely, he's just a boltgun catcher.
I'd say bring another battery of lascannons but in a IG squad instead of HW squad format, you should have enough points you can shave to do so.

I can understand what you say about the las/ plas on the LRD, but the I dont see myself changing them into LRBTs. Of all the vehicles im fielding, the LRD has the best chance of firing, so I want it to get shot at instead of the hellhounds and LRBT. Thats part of the reason the las/ plas guns are on it, so it can be seen as a big threat.
in terms of the vet sarge, it should make up its points on anything that is armor 12 and less THEORETICALLY. there is a good chance that it won't do anything for me, but for 10 points each, im willing to test it unless I really need the points elsewhere.

I went with the last chancers after seeing your list instead of grenediers in chimeras, so a big thank you for that (I think chimeras are horribly overpriced)

Not sure if thats what he was hinting at, but yes that would spread you thin, stick to what your good at, not your numbers of cheap guard /w flashlights.

Adding reliable anti-tank fixes it's major weakness.

I can trade in 1 vet squad and all the plasma pistols for another lascannon squad, that would give me more reliable antitank, and with 2 squads I should be able to keep them alive for at least a few turns.
does that sound like a good idea?
