Imp Guard beat me as well with a lucky Lemon Russ Shot killed my HQ first turn. Anyway here it is. Captain Pair Of Lightning Claws Jump Pack Artificer Armour Iron Halo -155 5 Scouts 4 SR 1 ML -95 6 Marines LC PG Tank Hunters -125 6 Marines LC PG Tank Hunters -125 ~500 Any kind of feedback would be great. Thanks for looking.

Well, I will have to kill your scouts and captain, on the first turn, if I hope to beat you.
Your list is great, but feels a little...normal. Is there any flair to it?

Not really, and thats what I was going for, pretty much a basic all around army that can be competative with every army.
I Have some idea's about some fluffy speed army's. But nothing has been tested yet.

I'd see both Artificer Armour and an Iron Halo as somewhat overkill for one model in a 500 pt force. I'd drop one of them. Also, instead of 2 LC's, make one more missle launcher or heavy bolter. Against lots of Tyranid gaunts, Imperial Guardsmen, or any other kind of low toughness, low armour save infantry either one should easily kill multiple models where a LC will only kill one. Keep the one LC for any vehicles or large creatures you come across.

Oh, man, Spartacus, lucky shots and bad terrain? You make my glorious and decisive victory sound like anyone could have pulled it off. REMATCH! I throw the gauntlet at you, Spartacus, at you! Also, I think your list is good, I like the Artificer Amour/Iron halo tank. The high point cost of that one model makes it way more fun for me to instant kill him with Rail-guns. Oh, snap.

Whoa, Spartacus, lets not be too hasty. I had one and a half squads of Fire Warriors left, and last time I checked, two scoring units are still better than zero. Like you had. Oh, snap.

It's certainly strong, but I think you can do better (expecting a well-rounded field). I can't see the Sniper Rifle Scouts doing much, although they're definitely a really cool selection for a smaller scale game.
Maybe something like
HQ: Captain; Power Weapon, Bolt Pistol, Frags- 77
Command Squad: 5 Marines; 4 Bolt Pistols and Close Combat Weapons, Veteran Sergeant with Power Fist, Frags- 110
Troops: 5 Marines; 1 Meltagun, 1 Veteran Sergeant with Power Fist- 110
Troops: 5 Scouts, Missile Launcher- 75
Heavy Support: 5 Devastators; 3 Heavy Bolters- 120 (Solid if you're having trouble with Tau)
492
Just an idea, and probably not too fun to play/ play against, but I don't know what kind of campaign it is. Then again, your list obviously suggests you expect to match up with a lot of tanks, so yours is probably just straight up better for your campaign. Good luck with it, sounds like you guys are having fun.
To take the list back in your direction (sit and shoot) I wouldn't sink so many points into the HQ to have him run up by himself and try to tie up an enemy shooty squad (although I do like the idea).
HQ: Captain; Stormbolter- 65
Troops: 5 Scouts; Heavy Bolter, 4 Bolters- 70
Troops: 5 Scouts; Heavy Bolter, 4 Bolters- 70
Troops: 5 Marines; Plasma Gun, Veteran Sergeant with Power Fist- 115
Troops: 5 Marines; Lascannon- 90
Troops: 5 Marines; Lascannon- 90
After writing this post, I actually like your list and implied strategy more than either of the ones I've just thrown together because your list basically solves the problem my lists have of either having almost no close combat weapons or not enough anti armor. Heh. I guess just slim down the HQ, and make sure Tank Hunters is really useful at 500 points if you're going to keep it.
Real quick:
HQ: Captain; Jump Pack, Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Frags- 97 (Iron Halo not great because you don't want to get him in CC with Power Weapons/ other HQ's, you want to shoot them)
Troops: 6 Scouts; Heavy Bolter, 5 Bolters- 83
Troops: 5 Scouts; Missile Launcher, 4 Bolters- 75
Troops: 6 Marines; Heavy Bolter, Flamer, Veteran Sergeant with Power Fist- 130
Troops: 6 Marines; Lascannon, Plasma Gun- 115
25 wounds, all of which will hopefully be on 3+ saves thanks to the scouts' Stealth. 2 HB's, a Lascannon, a ML, a Plas, and a Flamer should let you beat Horde armies as well as MEQ types and armor.

Perfect Shot Black Templar Predator Pilot

What's the FOC you have to follow?
Because...if the list below is legal, I'd field it in a heartbeat.
Black Templars 500 Point Army List
Castellan w/ Terminator Armor, Lightning Claw Pair - 120pts
Terminator Command Squad (4) w/ 2 Assault Cannons - 200pts
Crusader Squad (5) w/ Missile Launcher - 90pts
Crusader Squad (5) w/ Missile Launcher - 90pts
500 Points, 15 models
2 Anti-tank weapons and 8 Bolters to act as a small firebase, while your 5 Termies could either Deep Strike or trek up the field and unload 8 Rending shots of death per turn. You assault the Termie Squad? You die. You somehow survive? Now you have to deal with the cherry-pickers downfield as they blow you away with S8 AP3 goodness.
Definitely tooled to take down armor. Would have a hard time in and objective-based mission, as the only really mobile squad isn't exactly resilient (sure, they're Terminators, but it only takes three crappy armor saves to render them nonscoring).
Alternatively, you could field the following (less broken) list:
Castellan w/ Power Weapon, Bolt Pistol, Jump Pack - 101pts
Assault Squad (8) w/ Power Weapon - 186pts
Crusader Squad (6) w/ Meltagun - 106
Crusader Squad (6) w/ Meltagun - 106
499 Points, 21 models
Focuses a lot more on Assault, with everything being armed with a Close Combat Weapon and a Bolt Pistol (except where specified otherwise). The Assault Squad will be able to kick out 6 Power Weapon and 14 Regular attacks per turn, and has enough bodies to put the hurt on anything that gets in its way (at 500 points, don't expect to be needing a Power Fist).
I know you're not Templars, but they're a general guideline. Hope it helps.

@ Corpsman_Of_Krieg Your right I am not playing BT's. And the only thing is both of those lists are mostly one sided to shooting or CC. The termies in 500 would also IMO be too much cheese for our local gaming store. We all like to have fun so taking 5 termis in 500 pts. I would just feel like an @ss. The second list was a bit more rounded although the anti tank would be hard to get to. well the tanks. Which there are many so far in our campaing.
@ Terminizzle I agree that your first two lists were heavy one sided, not really the all around list I was going for. But your last list was interesting. The biggest thing I disagreed with was the lack of iron halo. Its not the point of trying to save power weapon wounds its trying to survive the run across the board. We have 2 guard players, and a tau player. So they like to shoot, to say the least. I have found it to save my @ss more often then not so the pts seem worth it to me. I also didnt really like the marine unit with VS /w PF. Just un needed on that unit, the pts on the fist would be wasted because the marine units are a fire base that can move in the last cupple turns to take an objective.

I think you've built a VERY solid 500 point force.
You might have a problem with a Chaos army that chooses the "marked" troop types, especially T-Sons, but I think you've done well.
The worst problem you'll have is that, in an objective based game, you'll have to decide between shooting your Heavy Weapons and moving. that can cause a problem if you don't take down any enemy armor FAST.
There shouldn't be TOO much armor on the table at 500 point, but still...
I like it.
.... and I like the tough-as-nails HQ at 500 points. He's expensive but, at that point level, not easy to kill (usually). That jump pack could lead him into trouble, though, if he gets out in front of the rest of the army.

@ MagickalMemories Thanks man, I appriciate the comment. There isnt "a lot" of armor. But there is a cupple of LR, a HH, and predator to my knowlage. So most army's are taking a tank. The las heavy army has trouble with horde army's but my HQ is also meant for horde slicing.
I was assembling my new termies today and realized that I wanted to use them.. So against all of my cheese hate, I made a 500 pt list w/ some termies.
Codicier Librarian
terminator armor
fear of the darkness
might of heroes
-135
Terminator Retinu, 3x Termies
2 Assult cannons.
3 ChainFists
-175
5 Marines
ML
plas
-95
5 Marines
ML
Plas
-95
~500

In the second list you posted, the Terminator Command squad has to be at least 4 models, which makes them prohibitively expensive (or even moreso) at 500 points.
Captain; Terminator Armor, Power Weapon, Stormbolter- 105
Command Squad; 4 Terminators, 2 Assault Cannons, Tank Hunters- 212
Troops: 5 Marines; 2 Plasma Guns- 100
Troops: 5 Scouts; Heavy Bolter- 70
which leaves you a few points to play around with.

I am also a member of this local gaming group and though i wont mention any names. there is a load of armour in 500pt lists, specifically certain i-guard players are taking 2 russes and honestly aside from sparticus i am the only other person not taking a battle tank. So those 2 lascannons are spot on.

I think the list was better without the dreadnought. One nice thing about an all-infantry army is that your opponent doesn't have any juicy targets for his tank-busting weapons: he has to content himself with shooting his lascannons at 15-pt marines. The dreadnought has some reasonably good firepower, but he's also a giant walking target.
Sniper rifles are useful for shooting high toughness targets, usually monstrous creatures. Do you expect to see a lot of these in your games?

not really, there is one MC nid army, but other then that not too many high toughness units. But they're kind of annoying and the chance to pin a unit is worth the points to me in 500.

U still need a HQ and 2 Troops for 500pts game?
Unless a home game with mates
Need a effective 500pts army for slapping mainly deamons but tau will show up every now and again
I'm thinking:-
Tact 10 with H-bolter + Meltagun
205 SGT - P-Fist + M-Bombs
Dread either 2x twin H-bolters or assualt can 115 with fist
Sternguard 6 M-Melta
180 SGT - P-Fist
Friendly game and still need to buy 2 even sm armies of roughly 500pts so buying and sourcing parts needs to be reasonable cos the muppets a gw don't seem to put the bits in the box to make the squads you want
this list stands at about £56 without the 2 twinlinked H-bolters
And I collecting plasmas/P-swords for my other army so this I abit of a Bitz collecting mission too
Oh and I hate bikes for war, they look good but if I playing away from home the git will just make roadblocks or sumthing :(
Tall order but, Cheers for any input to this
