I was thinking of running several large (25+) units of skeles with bows, and light armor. The plan is to have the do double duty as archers in the early game, and as line soldiers when the enemy gets close. This would be instead of outfitting them as HtH only fighters with shields. Has anyone tried this out?

I've repeatedly seen it done with one big block, including in the very competitive TK army Matt Lewandowski has been running for at least the last year. I'm not sure if multiple blocks would be that great, as you'd be soaking a pretty substantial number of points away from your faster and deadlier support units.
