Hello.
i'm loking at starting a new Ork Army, but it my first time back to warhammer for a some years, and the only orks i have are the ones from the starter set about 12 years ago (the one with 20 orks, 40 gretchin and 1 cardboard cut out of a dreadnought )

So i'm looking at starting an ork army simply as they look the most fun. I want something small to start with around 500pts, that i can build onto at a later time.

I think a good foundation is:

1 warboss with Choppa and slugga + eavy Armour= 65pts

15 slugga boyz 1 rokkit= 100pts
15 slugga boyz 1 rokkit= 100pts
15 shoota boyz 1 rokkit= 100pts

but i'm not sure about the rest, could you give me some advice please, even better a list

Howdy!

It's been awhile since that starter box, that was 2nd Edition!

You have a good start to your list. I would only make a small suggestion:

Ork Boyz get extra special weapons when they are in multiples of 10. Extra rokkits are always good as Orks are lacking anti-tank and heavy armor firepower. Consider making your 3 squads of 15 into 2 squads of 20, each with 2 rokkits. You can make one a Shoota squad and one a Slugga. Try and get a Nob into at least the Slugga squad since they will see close combat. A Nob with Power Klaw really helps the killy-ness of the unit!

Other than that, decide if you want to go lots of vehicles or lots of infantry. If vehicles, a couple of Trukk boyz units are good. If infantry, if you're going shooty, Lootas are nice, and if you're going assault, try Stormboyz.

Hope that helps, play a few 500pt games first and see how it goes, they are fun and fast and will help you learn what works best in your army.

OK Thanks. I think i'll go down the lootas route, i can always change them later on for a bit of speed.

so my army will be:

HQ

Warboss choppa+ shoota eavy armour=65pts

Elites

5 Lootas=75pts

Troops

20 Shoota boyz + 2 Rokkits + Nob w PK=175pts
20 Slugga Boyz + 2 rokkits + Nob w pk=175pts (I think for the time being i'll use my old orks just to save a bit of money...sorry teeth)

490pts

i can juggle wargear arround to make up that extra 10 but thats not important know.

Any more suggestions welcome

I would just make both boyz shootas and if there is any way to make that loota squad bigger or they will get taken out really quickly. when you can try the bikerboss he is awesome

This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!

I'll look at getting more at a later date, but 5 will be enough to get a feel for them. I'm just wondering whether to swap the Warboss for a BigMek with Shokk attack fun. Partly to add range to the squad, but mostly as it has to be the greatest weapon in the game.

The sag is pretty cool i had a lot of fun with it when i tried it but it was to static for me and i was worried that it would scatter into my boyz
