I was told by a friend that a tank can tank shook other vehicles. so if this is true then you can use the deff rolla upgrade on a battle wagon for mucho tank killin'.

is this true?

I haven't tried it yet. In THEORY, it should be possible to attack tanks with a deff rolla. Whether it works in PRACTICE will have to wait until my Ork army gets built. At the rate I'm going... I'll get back to you in 2-3 years. EBay is not being kind to me.

Yes, a battlewagon can tankshock any enemy vehicle with lower frontal armor (so no land raiders, monoliths, or demolishers). This vehicle moves the minimum distance away and can't shoot (it isn't a walker or infantry). Since it was tank shocked, it takes d6 S10 hits.

I haven't used this in practice, so I'm not sure how it works, but it would seem good, especially if you have a lot of battlewagons with deffrollas.

I think if you are going to take a battlewagon you might as well have the deff roller. I've played a couple of games with it and while not always super useful it is damn orky and fun to use

nothing like smashing into a squad of landspeeders and spreading out 6 str 10 hits on a lucky roll

When I first looked at the deff rolla, I thought it was going to be an amazing source of AT. I was wrong. If your opponent knows that getting within 12" of a BW with another tank means it's probably going to die, guess whats their not going to do. It's not even hard to avoid the battle wagon. Besides, if you're that far up the board, it's gunna be really easy to get side armor. I always opt for the reinforced ram instead.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism." -Hermann Goering (high ranking Nazi)

...unless they're Immobilised or stunned. And the battlewagon wants to get far up the table either way, just to deliver it's payload.

Yeah, it's not practical. The extraordinary awesome value totally makes up for it.

It's really good at taking out transports that have just dropped off their own payload to rapid fire the boyz. And if you are fielding 4 or 5 BW then it isn't too difficult to manage a couple shocks into heavier tanks. The best is hitting those pesky skimmers, just because of the visual it conjures in my mind.

You are missing half the problem here. Battlewagons shouldnt make it alone. They should have others with them. Orks dont pay too much for their Av14 vehicle (though they do pay for the big gun). Anyway five or more battlewagons in 1500pts is quite possible (last night I saw five land raiders) and unlike the land raiders there is room for plenty of support. Flanking them will not be easy, and they will be dropping sluggaboyz with klaws and the odd trio of meganobz.

I like the idea of using it to herd the enemy around. Sure its easy to avoid getting crushed by it, but its even easier to predict where the reactionary counter move is. Ill probaly take it on my transport wagon as its going upfield anyways and simply use it to direct traffic as i see fit.
