This details the early history of my dark angels successor chapter. The Angels of Repentance.
In the years when the lion left the rock in the care of luther, when luther slowly fell into the hands of chaos there was a dark angels crusade. A call for help from the planet Enoch IV was answered by a company of space marines, who were lost in the warp after a unknown tyranid fleet shadow crossed their path. 30 years later, a dozen battle barges of the dark angels landed at Enoch IV to find a civilisation preyed upon by a fleet group of dark eldar. Destroying the fleet of dark eldar, the Dark angels made their way to the surface, to find the enemy and destroy them.
Instead of finding men, they found twisted monsters, capable of tearing through even a land raider's hull. They fought their way inland to one of the previous main cities and found a ruler there, executing him the dark angels finally saw the truth. Those monsters had been men, all along, their brothers dead just stunned or concussed, their destroyed tanks merely abandoned in the streets. By killing this vile man, they had freed the planet, but at what cost.
Soon after the death of the corrupt ruler, a series of warp storms erupted over the systems expanses, and the Dark Angels had no choice but to wait it out. Decades past, and they settled in a fortress in the hills, looking down upon the lands of the local populace. The tech-priests made manufactorium, and dug
prothemium wells.
The other few worlds within conventional distance were rapidly recolonised, and guarded fiercely by the Angels of repentance until just a few years ago, when the warp storms abated, and imperial contact was remade. The angels of repentance were accepted by the Dark Angels, after the infamous Trials of Haigor, and rapidly adapted to the codex astartes. However, little is known about the angels of repentance.
