If Armored Company was a list legal for all tournaments, how competitive would it be? What is the optimal list? Would you take it?

Lets assume games will be at 2000 points.

Take the two options to let you smash infantry for free.

Besides that, take lots of tanks. At 2000 points I think you can run 8-10 tanks comfortably.

I have taken it. The BS 4 Commander/tank ace, and ace gunners make Lemans powerful again. The list has serious weaknesses, but it can dish the damage.

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

I placed 8th in the Seattle GT with an Armored Company. One major weakness I can identify is you need something to finish off squads that are approaching your lines. Multiple battlecannons will form the mainstay of your firing and will do good damage to anything that is not an armored target or in terminator armor but once you have reduced (for example) an assault squad to 2 or 3 men, one of them the ubiquitous powerfist, you will need something other than a battlecannon to kill the remainder of the squad. Whether that is a Leman Russ Exterminator (best used as a tank ace, to get BS4 and ace gunners) or an Armored Fist squad is up to you but your battlecannon shots will be wasted trying to pinpoint the template on 2 or 3 models.

I would also say either a Laser Destroyer or Vanquisher is necessary, again with ace gunner for reliable anti tank. Avoid excess points spent on doctrines (see Aces High rule); Crush and Grind and Evasive Driving are both good for tanks that will be advancing but you want to spend the first few turns shooting everything so be mindful of how you equip your tanks.

In all, I find it to be a list that either wins big or loses big, depending on matchup. You will surprise people but gameplay consists mainly of rolling the scatter die well.

It's definitely a rock-scissors-paper army, but it's so much fun to play against. I've never commanded one, but have fought several. Every single game has been a blast.

And yeah, the Armored Fist squads make life a lot harder for enemy infantry. Bail-and-spray or lurking in cover mopping up are both viable uses (or were against me).

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
