Are Brettonians are better all knight army than an Empire one? I be askin cause the Canadian version of Whitedwarf just released thier montly tactica and it included an Empire Knightly Order army that looked quite good.

They are both good armies. Bretonnians have more variety in terms of an all-Knight army, so I'd tend to go with them over Empire. Grail Knights are also one of the best units in the game.
The Knights are one of the stronger units in the Empire list though, so it's not a bad choice. The Grandmaster is an exceptional character, especially when teamed up with a unit of Inner Circle Knights.
Both armies have similar magic - although the Bretonnians might fit in better depending on your theme. Likewise the Empire has Warrior Priests if you're going for a Crusader feel.
Since they're both viable armies, it's really a choice of which models look better to you and whether you'd rather go with an Arthurian theme or a Crusader theme.

Empire has access to ranged weapons the brets can only dream of and priests (reroll to hit in first round of combat).
Brets have a ward save, a more powerful charge, cheeper ranks, and flying cav.
Those are the main differences.

Brets charge 16", Empies only 14"
Brets have 2+ save, Empies have 1+
Brets have ward save, Empies have none
Brets can be 3 wide, get 8 attacks on 3-wide frontage. Empies at 5 wide can get 6 attacks at best.
9 Brets gives you 2 ranks, 10 Empies gives you one rank.
Brets is da killiest!
Cannons misfire more often than you would think.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Altough knight heavy builds are certainly possible (and even pretty good with right support units) with empire, the brettonian list is designed more with lots of knights in mind, so that'll give some weight in choosing the bretts. That said, I think you'd do better to choose in accordance which armies models you like better.

Well I guess you could always paint Emp knights funny and use the Bret list for them...
