Looking to build a few armies this year and I've always thought the Strigoi were very cool. Is anyone using them these days, any new leaks on how they'll change and what do you play along with them in your lists? Weakness and Strengths???

Thnx,

Strigoi are, without a doubt, the most brutally effective in HTH of all the vampires. And they don't lose power dice the way Blood Dragons do. They also give you a fluff excuse to field tons of cheapo ghoul units, which can flee and give amazing tactical utility to a VC army.

Of course, all of this will likely change with the new book, especially with Ghouls going to being ranked undead.

If you're looking for some info on their current (old) capabilities, there's a guy down in Australia who's written some excellent tourney reports:

Weaknesses are the same as all other vampire counts armies.
-semi reliant on magic
-no marching away from general
-only one good combat unit...

Strenghts
-reliant troops
-fear causing
-dont run...

As for strengths unique to strigoi
-combat monsters (better against units than blood dragons, less so against chars)
-flying vampires (two or three vampires is common and will break any unit on their own)
-hard to kill (regenerating vampires...)

Weaknesses
-no armor
-can't really fight well in anything but an infantry unit

They, along with all other bloodlines are gone in the new codex but you can probably build similar vampires with the new powers (i expect flying will still be there).
