According to the rumored 5th edition rules, a model that runs during the shooting phase may not assault during the assault phase. Warp spiders are allowed to make a movement of 2d6 inches in the assault phase "instead of assaulting." Can they still make this movement after running?

I've been trying to think of other instances of how "instead" is applied. I thought first of fire prisms and the question of whether or not a shaken prism can combine beams, but this text does not use the same phrasing: it says that the supporting prisms may "forfeit their chance to fire," which to me seems to more explicitly state that something must be given up. Also in the rumored 5 ed. rules, for twin-linked template weapons it states that you may "reroll the dice to wound. Against vehicles, you may re-roll the Armour Penetration dice instead." Here "instead" does not require that you forfeit anything: you're not giving up a reroll to wound, since you cannot wound vehicles. Following this logic, a warp spider unit would indeed be allowed to make a second jump instead of assaulting, even were it otherwise not permitted to assault. Still, I remain unconvinced, as this argument is based on how a word is used in two rather different contexts. Are there any more general precedents that help resolve this question?

Well, philosophical pontifications on "instead" aside, this depends on a few things first.. most notably whether or not models that run are forbidden from "assaulting" or from "moving in the assault phase." Also, whether or not jump infantry will be allowed to run.

They aren't assaulting anyone, just moving.
I read it as they can do it. Jump infantry can run after the leaked rules.

Well they don't have fleet, so that means that they cannot assault and the warp jump is for all intents and purposes an assault move.

So you get one or the other but not both.

Basically it comes down to if you want to move a short distance safely or you are willing to risk the long jump.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

I would disagree

Warp Jump Generators(RAW) is "The unit may make a second jump in the assault phase INSTEAD of assaulting"

the leaked version of Run(RAW) is "Units that run cannot assault in the following assault phase"

Warp Jump Generators is quite clearly not an assault as it's done instead of assaulting and run only precludes assaulting, so a Unit of warpspiders could move then run, then jump in assault

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
