The Scout sprue has shotguns, but they are modeled with
hands on them, iirc, and the arms aren't always the best
fit with Imperial Guard bodies (they bow out to make room
for Space Marine armor).

I think that the scout biker's shotgun would work pretty well. The only problem is that I can only find it on the UK online store.

There will be 5 shotguns in the plastic scout boxed set. It will be pretty costly to buy a 20$ boxed set for 5 shotguns, but maybe you can just sell the scouts. If you are good at painting, maybe you could even profit. Here's the link: http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=305386&orignav=300866&ParentID=256011&GameNav=10

Good luck!

As you can see, there are hands modeled onto the shotguns.

But if you are building SM Scouts ANYWAY. Sure, why not?

Yeah, but the Necromunda shotguns are ugly as sin. The best ones really were the SM Scout Biker ones. You could do really easy SM Scout to Arbite conversions with them by taking a Bolt Pistol/CCW scout, chopping the BP arm off at the wrist and gluing on the shotgun and doing a headswap for an Arbite head. Looked sweet.

You'll have to do some sanding with the shotguns from the new plastic SM Scout set, but I think those are your next best bet - you should be able to buy or trade them off of SM players that aren't using them. Check out The Warstore or Ebay for them, too.

Would SM scouts with Empire heads or Bret helmets look good? Something gothic looking at least for the Arbites helmets with the face mask?

I was under the impression that the Scout sprue had 5 shotguns, but it looks like it only has 4

They look good. The cadian heads look nice on them too, makes them look a lot more like real world soldiers.

The Void boxed set had plastic carapace armored guys with shotguns and riot shields.

Available from Grendel IIRC.

The old classic Gorkamorka models came with shotgun orks, though, like the scouts, they had arms modeled on.

Are the necromunda enforcers still available? They of course are the perfect arbites shotguns and came on a sprue. But they have hands molded on.

They're not in the US Specialist Games store. I don't have
a catalog though.

I don't think I'd go for either the Empire heads or the Bret helmets - the Bret helmets give a doughboy look that works well for Genswick rifles, but not so much for Arbites. And unless you're going for the motorcycle cop look, I'd avoid the Cadian heads, too (but then I despise the helmeted Cadian heads).

As Malfred said, the Necromunda Enforcers set used to come with a full sprue of Arbites helmeted heads, but it looks like that's gone the way of the original arbites. The best substitute Arbites helmets I've seen in a while have actually been plastic WHFB Chaos Warrior helmets with the horns cut off. If you look around at some of the Black Templar armies, they're the ones you see a number of BT players using. Granted, you'd need to get a bunch of the same ones, and I think there's only 2 of the same kind per box of Chaos Warriors, so much like the SM Scout Shotguns, you'd need to do some trading for them.

Y'know a seriously easy answer is take a lasgun, cut off the stock, the clip and trim the nozel so you only have a bit protruding. Now you have a short boxy weapon.

That is a really nice tutorial - I remember seeing that a long time ago. Also, if you stop at step two above, you've made yourself some Aliens Colonial Marines M-41 pulse rifles, which I've done before. Nice for making a few autoguns for a unit, but a pain if you're wanting to build an entire army with them.
