Okay, so it says that it is hard wired in an orks brain (thanks to genetic coding) how to build if they are a mekboy, shoot if they are a shoota so on and so forth.

So how do feral orks not know these things?

Orks get better by fighting, and being near combat. This activates their innate potential, much like pumping electricity into a lightbulb. Feral orks simply have not been in enough combat to figure out more efficient ways of killing each other and those around them. Meks will still build things, and doks will still cut up other orks. They'll just use whatever is closest to hand. Even in the rulebook, gargants were never dreamed of until a mekboy saw a titan and thought he could build it orkier.

Its innate as Gitz says. They don't know how to make shootas till they venture out of the wilderness and pick up some of the invading Ork technology. If there is none left and they don't get a chance enough with say Imperial tech they stay feral till something triggers it

The real question is that according to Gorkamorka, Orks grow from spores, so why do they have belly buttons?

Winning isn't important. It's the taking apart that counts!

They have belly buttons?
Maybe their in a cocoon in the spore and they're given nourishment like humans.

Or they generate methane gas and their arse simply cant expell it fast enough.

Show me fluff that denies it

Somehow I doubt that's it, but since there's no fluff that confirms they don't, I can't argue.

As for Orks having bellybuttons, in the 3rd Ed. Ork codex shows that they grow in a big embryonic sac thing, you see nutrient tubes connecting to the growing orks, so it's very possible that one of them leaves a bellybutton.

And on the point of feral orks not knowing innately how to make sluggas etc. it's because they probably haven't thought about the possibilities of ranged weaponry, until they are exposed to it, their ability to create it isn't triggered.

Hehe I know man. But it would speed up methane release if it went straight out of the stomach. And a controlled blast of that to the face...

I thought orks had innate psyker abilities they weren't even aware of? Like they could pick up a bolter with no ammo clip and pull the trigger and it would fire as long as they didn't realize they ran out of ammunitions.

or am I speaking of something that the Inquisition is trying to keep quiet?

I think the ammo thing may be a stretch but its written that =][= have recovered ork gear that they cant explain how it actually functions. The only explanation is that they believe it should work. The effect is allegedly multiplied in times of war and when greater numbers of orkoids congregate.

That was in the old codex. I haven't finished reading the new ork codex, but it was definitely in the old codex. Along with fluff about red ork vehicles being faster, because they believed they were faster.

The whole bit about the psychology/psychic-ability for red wunz being faster is from even older fluff than that, though I can't remember where exactly right off.
