So fantasy gets an 'ard boys tournament, I'm thinking of taking a Khalida/TK list with at least 48 archers with poisoned shots. 3500 is a lot of points to work with, you guys think such a list would work?

Last time I tried the list I had actually 72 archers and the only thing that reached me was a VC knight heavy list..but this time I am taking:

TK with flail, crown, vambraces, chariot, la, shield=321

LP:cloak, jar=160 (hierophant)

I have 63 points left which is enough for 2 carrion or 1 ushabti(if I drop shield or LA on TK), alternatively I can make TK have DOE+collar and take 1 more ushabti AND 2 more carrion, any ideas?

I would deffinetly go for making DOE + collar and an ushabti and 2 more carrion.

Why a Tomb King? You would have much more magic if you go for a high priest about same cost as your set up. You already beneffit from khadlia counting as a king for army selection purposes.

I've been really thinking of a Khalida list for hard boyz, but haven't been able to get a lot of feedback on it form people who have used it. How do you find the archers? Are they really worth the points for Khalida + a 25% price increase? If I were running the list, I would be running over a hundred of them, since I see Khalidas price as being a premium for the poison rule on the archers. It seems that you would have to take LARGE quantitites of them to make it work.

Why would ou drop from 72 down to 48? Seems that you would want more.

I haven't crunched any points yet, but I was thinking about Khalida, a LHP, TP x 2 in chariots, LP x 2 with a casket, 120 archers in 3 squads of 40 (unweildy, I know) deployed in 2 ranks on hills if I can, prob. 2 squads of chariots to escort the TP's around, 2 more squads for chariots for flanking, large heavy cav squad (maybe), 2 SSC, mix of carrion and TS

I'm looking at making poison pincushions out of whatever moves with the archers, reforming them to recieve charges. Knock a hole in a flank with the SSC's, charge through the hole and roll up the flank with the chariots, TS and carrion for warmachine hunting. Prob. too many archers here to be REALLY usable.

On the one hand, that's a bit of what I think of when I think Khalida. On the other hand, I'm not WHFB player. I grew up in 40k, and don't average a WHFB battle a year.

I guess I am posting to learn simply why less archers is more, os to speak, in this list.

The khalida list is more of a gimmicky thing. It rocks against horde armies with low armor but agaisnt anything else, the army just doesn't cut it. A regular list TK army is more competative and tactical.

'Ard Boyz is likely to be filled with Dragons, Giants, and other big stuff. The poison will be worth more in that setting than it usually would be.

I like the list, but echo the comments about switching out the Tomb King for another priest, or more archers.
