Subject: What's the difference between edit and update?
When I double click a message I wrote, I can update it and give
a reason for the change. Edit, however, requires no reason. What's
the difference?

It is just a side effect of a tool that was originally mod-only being pushed out to all users. I'll get round to fixing it eventually but it is way down the list. Any edit notes given are logged for future reference at the moment.

Yes it is for admin/mod review. Like I said though, it will be removed at some point and is just a side effect of a specific system being rolled out to everyone without being fully polished.
