Howdy fellow Dakkaites...

I'm usually a lurker here on Dakka, admiring some of the amazing things made by some of the members here, but thought I'd post some pics of stuff I've been working on myself, here and there, since I'm up and have a few hours to kill this morning...

As my forum handle probably alludes, I'm primarily a Tyranid enthusiast, with the majority of my projects centered around my beloved Great Devourer...Generally I make my custom projects via kit-bashing/fig-bashing a variety of toys with loads and loads of green stuff, to try and make the varied parts meld together well enough so as to grant the appearance of it indeed being from one thing...It's not always for everyone, I admit, but I very much enjoy it...

That said, here's a few monstrosities my Norn Queen has cooked up for my Hivefleet...

My "Horrorspextrix"

Scale size of the Horrorspextrix

My "Rhinophant"

My Biovore

Tyranids aside, I also do alot of Chaos stuff, as my 14yr old son has a large Chaos United themed army...He really likes Nurgle alot, so I spent some time making him these -

Custom Great Unclean One

And what we call, "The Pandemicus of Nurgle", a custom super heavy (daemon possessed) tank for our Apocalypse games (uncompleted WIP)

close up of it's "Putrescence Cannon"

Give You an idea of it's size

As I said, the last one is still a work in progress, and still has quite a ways to go before it's completed...Eventually very little of the tank iitself will be seen (the armor atleast), as it will be covered in fleshy folds and large, openly weaping sores and so forth...

I come to Dakka quite regularly just to fill up my inspiration tank, per se, so I'd love to hear people's feedback and opinions...

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Gruesome. My comments in order.

1. I think the Horrorspextrix is very nice but will be better used as a huge chaos spawn than a TMC. Look up the giant chaos spawn rules in Imperial Armour Update 2006, this monster will fit in very nicely.

2. Rhinophant, I like the alien drone connection, is that the carapace of an Eldar jetbike up there?

3. Biovore. This is the only model I didnt actually like. Its more like a frankennid made of various body parts sewn together,,and doesnt really work.

4. The custom Great Unclean One is the pickl of the crop. I would love to see the finished model. If told me it was acommercial model kit I would have believed you.

5. Pandemicus. You really do like watching The Thing dont you. rankly I really dont think it gels well with the tank chassis though. Though it could if you chaosed up the tank some more, and also made it look like a tracked skip with the abomination lying inside. Then you couldargue that the abominationn was placed in the vehuicle to give it mobililty, and duie to its nature started growing into and through it.

I dont think I like it, but I know I weill if you make the vehicle parts more crude with iron plates and chaos arrows. Also the possessed in the middle doesnt sit well, best to just have a big maw instead.

WOW!!!

So what did you use for the parts, esp for the Rhinophant. I think that the Horrorspextrix has to much going on its neck.

I smell action figures! I can place quite a few of the elements, but am curious where everything comes from ...

Way to be on the nutty conversions, impressive stuff. The Horror' may be my favorite, a monster right out of Geof Darrow's work. The Rhino' is, well, an Alien (but cool all the same), the Biovore is an impressive mash of parts (I like the claw as horn), and the chaos stuff, while not my cup of tea, is some really solid channeling of The Thing and nice and chaotic

Thanks for the comments guys, I really appreciate them...

To answer some of Your questions as to what went into each of these, here's a basic rundown -

Horrorspextrix

Cerebrus (Final Fantasy 8)
The Visitor (Stan Winston's "Creature Features")
She-Creature (Stan Winston's "Creature Features")
Gallowz (Stan Winston's "Mutant Earth")
Creatures from Skull Island (King Kong movie figs)
Zerg Hydralisk (Blizzard toys)
Mohawk Gremlin (Cult Classics)
Alien Warrior (Hasbro Signature Series)
Alien Warrior (Movie Maniacs series 6)
Acklay Arena Beast (Star Wars : Attack of the Clones)
Djinn (Movie Maniacs series 5)
Great Cthulhu (Inteleg Vinyl Model)
plus some Games Workshop bitz here and there and tons and tons of Green Stuff...

The "busy" neck does, admittedly, have alot going on it...But if he's seen in person, most people actually comment how the tiny little details involved in that part of the creature actually make it that much better looking in the end...The large thing on the top, for the record, is called a "Hive Cannon"...It shoots ordinance blasts consisting of Ripper Swarms, for 72 inches...

Rhinophant

Panther Alien (Aliens line of figs from the early 90s)
Acklay Arena Beast (Star Wars : Attack of the Clones)
Aquatic Alien (Hasbro Signature Series)
Games Workshop Carnifex head and loads and loads of Green Stuff...

Biovore

Hydracc (Mega Bloks : Plasma Dragons)
Keed'kak Kitik (Star Wars)
Face Hugger (Hasbro Signature Series)
a Carnifex kit and loads and loads of Green Stuff...

As for the Great Unclean One, I honestly don't remember everything that went into him, save the base figure being a Tortured Souls 2 Suffering Bob fig...Give me a bit and I might be able to depiece it in my mind and remember all that went into him...

Pandemicus of Nurgle (super heavy daemon possessed tank)

1/32 King Tiger tank (21rst Century Toys)
Tortured Souls 2 : Feverish (McFarlane Toys)
The Visitor (Stan Winston's "Creature Features")
The Thing : Norris Monster (Movie Maniacs series 3)
Chatterbeast (NECA Hellraiser line)
Predator (Movie Maniacs series 6)
Tooth Fairy (Movie Maniacs series 5)
Fire Dragon (Conan series 1; McFarlane Toys)
Varuna (Final Fantasy 8)
and lots and lots of Green Stuff (I admit, I can't remember where I got the bone spikes off of)...

I intend to eventually have the entire tank itself covered in bloated flesh, pock marked with open, weaping sores and wounds, with stringy, rotting flesh hanging over the edges of the treads, so that eventually, no part of the tank's armor is actually showing...

I've just begun working on an even larger Khorne influenced tank for my son, as well as a custom Keeper of Secrets to be buddies with his Great Unclean One...

Once I get them farther along, I'll post some pics of them as well if people would like...

Thanks again for the comments, opinions and feedback guys...I sincerely do appreciate it...

Great Conversions!!!
The Tyranids look awesome and the superheavy looks really cool, but the unclean one looks a little tyranidy to me for some reason.

holy crap. You should do this for a living. Thats some awesome sculpting which goes to reinforce my position that chaos nurgle attracts the most artistic of the chaos players.
