So if I give an Infantry Platton Sergeant the Honorifica Imperialis he does not become an HSO but retains the stats of a HSO. Which means he cannot purchase a Powerfist from the armoury because he is not technically an Officer?

HSO in an infantry platoon + Hardened Fighters + Powerfist = 5 attacks WS 5 Powerfist

If you want some close combat you can always add a small squad of Grey Knights.

Close Combat Guard arent the greatest they can be good in numbers and COD but yea i wouldnt just buy a PW thats even better only 5 pts

Honorifica has three uses:

Make an H.Q. Junior Officer with Ld9 for less.

Upgrade a Sanctioned Psyker for better Ld and a force weapon.

Upgrade a Rough Rider sgt for a very hard hitting one off lance charge, plus power sword.
