Well, the new Ork codex has me a little excited. It's great to see a return of a lot of the stuff from 2nd edition that made Orks fun.

But along with the old, there's a few interesting new characters in there, who seemed like perfect conversion fodder.

This fellow is the first of a series of Ork conversion I have planned... Built from a set of WHFB Orc legs, a Nob torso from the new Boyz sprue to bulk him up a little, Boy arms, some assorted bits of plasticard and rod, and a little greenstuff.

You can find more pics Under The Couch.

As always, comments and criticisms welcome.

Haha a little green stuff? It looks very very nice. I like how his head has a somewhat older/smarter look to it.

Excellent work, as always.
I'm most impressed by the fact that you decided to sculpt your own head when you could have just used an existing one... or part of an existing one & added your own stuff.

Small, though they may seem, my favorite parts are the chains on the wrists. VERY clean and precisely done. I'm MOST impressed!

the mouth looks like it could be a worked on a bit more, and the varying width of the chain links throws me off a bit, but everything else is absolutely fantastic! i love your base especially! veryyyy nice ^^

I really did. That's what I look like in the morning, before my second coffee.

The mouth does have a little detail that doesn't show well in the pics. The top teeth, for example, which are hidden a little behind the bottom ones... but yeah, I'm still getting faces down pat.

The chains are 3 seperate loops, rather than a single piece of chain, so while I was aiming for them all to be relatively similar, I didn't try too hard to make them all identical.

The base was a lot of fun, though. I'm going to have to do more like that.

GW would never let him work for them. He'd get so much awesome done so quickly, they'd have to listen to us and write new Codexes just to give him something to do.

that IS a little amount of grennstuff compared to the stuff Insaniak usually does

the pose and the knifes are great, but the face doesn't seem very threatening to me.

still great work though.

The greenstuff work on the base is jawdropping as is all the work on the model itself. It might look good to bulk the arms up a little. He is a boss after all. Otherwise he looks really good and he has a great commando/feral ork feel to him.

I think he needs to stop buying figs, and just sculpt all of his own from now on.

I've been looking at getting some bases cast up. At the moment just limited by cash... need to pick up a pressure pot for resin casting, and that has to wait a little while.
