i dont know if anyone else noticed this or not, but so far its just the Orcs and the chaos knights.
they have next to the knights/boys a smaller group of three/four respectively. Next to those three/four they have a small paragraph stating that these are snap together models... heres the paragraph
"the set contains three/four chaos warriors/orc single pose plastic models. these are designed to push-fit without glue, but gluing is recommended for sturdiness. these models are especially suitable for beginners or for filling out the ranks of larger units".
oh and they show a pic of regular chaos warriors/ orcs.
has this been around before and i have never noticed before or is this the way things are going to go.
anywho thought this was interesting.

My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me"

They are "counter top" display units. They're basically very cheap little boxes with 3, 4, or 5 figures (depending on army), in very limited poses. They are there for (IIRC) Orcs, Orks, Tyranids, Space Marines, Tomb Kings, and Chaos.

I'm sure there will be a 15 disc super duper blu-wiener-ray edition that will have every little thing included. - Necros, on Watchmen

Not too cheap either, IIRC it's something like $10 for 3 marines or chaos warriors.

my bad.
i must hang out in the wrong circles for this stuff.
and yeah thats sounds like gw pricing for snap together rank and file.
doesnt matter if its poor quality (snap together)
what matters is what the mini means to the game.
sorry about that

I found the ork box over on the UK site, but nothing available at the US store. I wonder if this is annother indicator of the direction direction of the new boxed set (Macragge replacement). Although, I would not expect Chaos Marines in the box...??

Wonder if that's to help round out the 16 man boxes they used to sell...

They're not really an 'indicator' of anything.

They were a small 'pocket money' set put out a couple of years ago, intended to sit on counters and make up some impulse sales.

fair enough,

but they would have to make a new set of molds for the snap together orks.

the snap together marines are already available through the macragge set.

They still needed to make a new mold for the Marines, as they're on a sprue of 3. The BFM set has all 10 on a single sprue.

That could be, but the work of designing the snap fit models has been done for macragge, and the marines and nids snap fit boxes are available. The only new one seems to be the orks.

All that said. I don't think that is a stretch to think that the new box set will be marines and orks; rumors or not.

Orks have to be better sellers than nids anyway.

And the Orcs, Chaos Warriors and Skeletons for Fantasy.

I would guess that they were all designed around the same time, before BfM was actually put together, as proof of concept for decent 3-part models.

Yep, they had these for some time. Didn't get any attention because they were expensive. Stupidly expensive, IIRC.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I kept on seeing these 3 packs of Chaos Warriors on e-bay and I was wondering what they were. I just thought they were UK stuff like demons that come in blister packs.

wow another stupid move by GW. They could have made it a 5 man box to compliment the 5 ork upgrade pack for the storm boyz. But NOOOOOO. Just like the 10 bun, 12 hot dog sausage scam. Good job GW

Snap togethers do sound like a good idea. Espcially for horde armies that people get sick of gluing together.

Those kits were released some 2 years ago here in "Northern Europe" and I assume in the UK as well. After the initial release of Orcs, Orks, Tyranids, Space Marines, Tomb Kings, and Chaos Warriors as Viperion said earlier, nothing else was released. A few years earlier most of the plastic Warhammer Quest models as well as some of the regular old single pose plastic models (from the 40K 2 and WHFB 4 era) were rereleased for independent retailers in Europe. So I assume these "new" kits are meant for those as well, although the snap fit kits are in the GW store, unlike the old single pose plastics.

I personally have bought the Ork and Orc sets for my Ork army. Both are partly new sculpts. The Orks mix very well with the regular plastic Boyz, but one of the sets has a strange pose. i remodelled the Orcs to 'Ard Boyz by clipping away the shield arm and replacing it with a spare arm (as an OrK player you will have loads), but this was very hard as the shield and the shield arm is molded on the body.
My understanding is that the Space Marines are related to the Battle MaSomething ones and differ in not having Ultramarine symbols. I haven't seen them up close, so I am not sure. The other kits I haven't seen up close either.

(sarcasm.. thick thick sarcasm).. Riiigght, cause GW has been behind every packaging scam every created. They contacted all hot dog and bun manufacturers and said, let's give it to the peasants and make sure everything sold is an odd lot rather than matching up. I think the above statement needs some refinement. just a little.. sarcasm off.

The ex-WHQ models were in GW for a while as well, at least here in Oz.

The Battle For Macragge Marines don't have Ultramarines symbols on them.

The 3-pack marines are the exact same models, just re-sprued.

That's how I bulked up my old Beastman army with Minotaurs - that old WHQ model pack had plastic Minotaurs that were great for cheap models.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

WOW
thank you for the response.
i guess they went slightly cheaper on the catalogue and sent everyone the same catalogue as this is the first time i have seen these. i'll have to ask my FLGS and see if these are something that is only a uk,oz thing.
oh and not to add coals to the fire, but the staff at my FLGS can't answer this (they are GWhaters) but why are there models in the new catalogue that were disco'd in the last one. is this a uk,oz thing or is the new catalogue just for direct internet ordering.
thank you again

I recall that Rick Priestley wrote that they would be rotating "classic" models in and out of the catalogue over the years. Jervis said the same thing several years ago, also.
