Mercenary Tau! That's my theme for the army, now to make a list that's appropriate. This was an expidition force that, during negociations, was trapped there by a warp storm, cutting them off from the T'au homeworld for 20 years. During this time, the people on the planet took this as a bad omen, and began the sabotaging of all their skimmers, to make the fight less one-sided. It took 2 years for the Tau to finish eliminating, or assimilating, every last member of the race of distant humanoids. They began to set up fortresses and embattlements to fight against the incoming chaos daemons that plagued them. They left the ways of the Tau, establishing their own homeworld and denouncing the greater good. Once the warp storm ended, they hired out their advanced technology and excellent soldiers to anyone with the highest coin, fighting against anyone, including their Tau ex-bretheren.

I say you switch out the stealth suits for a unit of pathfinders. They will be able to give you more markerlights. Additionally, if your firewarriors are on foot, you might want to put markerlights on their sgts. Otherwise your skyray can't really shoot if you are using the marker lights to strip cover saves, etc. Right now, you don't have enough markerlights to really take advantage of your unit choices.

Tau lists in general need a purpose. They need to focus on one single strategy, be it in an out surgical attacks with suits and mobile fire warriors or stand back and light up targets and take them out from afar. With this list I can't see you doing that well in most games as your army lacks any single focus Capt K has it correct that you need more marker lights to make this list work. A Sky Ray's usefulness is based on its ability to stay out of LOS and bombard the enemy with Seeker missiles and Smart Missles while denying your opponent the VPs for the vehicle or the board corner that he is in.

I would try to get some pathfinders in this list to help out with the Marker light strategy. The Stealth team is no longer mobile with the inclusion of a heavy weapon in that squad.

I ran a list with marginal success (only Zilla gave it issues Podding librarians were an issue to) that included 18 marker lights and sniper drones combined with 60 fire warriors turned most horde armies to goo as they marched up the table. If this is the route that you plan to take i would suggest getting some more markers in there.

Well, Sky Ray's are easily dropped...I'd like to keep the stealth suit team, maybe drop the marker drones...
