I know Spawn aren't scoring units, but I'd love to do a list based on a Winds of Change idea. With between 25-30 spawn, I could squeeze in a DP tricked out as well as two units of 9 Thousand sons. I'd thought about shaving some of the Spawn off and throwing in a few Oblits for some firepower.
My question, being that Spawn can't be considered scoring units, would this be a list that would work in a tourney environ?

Thanks,

Nope.
You'll have your @55 handed to you by any decent player.

Your Spawn have to chase the closest enemy unit. What that means, essentially, is that he'll use a couple models or low cost units to lead these things all over the field by the nose.

You're looking at dropping around half your points into non-scoring units that die relatively easily.

I tried it in a friendly game with 13 Spawn on a 2000 point game.
The spawn earned about half their points back but -luckily- managed to bog down a Lash Prince.
I'd say what I got out of them was almost worth it, but I only avoided being led around by the nose because I got lucky with terrain placement!

Got tons of spawn?

Don't use them in 40K. Play WHFB Beasts, and take a list with Morghur and tons of warhounds/ungor. You will either dominate tourneys, or be actually murdered by another player out of pure frustration.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
