Subject: Hawaiian Lizardman List
|
 |
Rampaging Chaos Russ Driver
|
This host of lizardmen presides in a long lost land to the rest of the world, and only the mighty slaan know of it's existance, or so they thought. They use this protected land to try and carry out the will of the old ones, carrying out the lengthy process of reshaping the land to their will, while safe from the interloping warm bloods, and chaos. The vastly volcanic land and it's tropical forests rest in the seas to the west of lustria. However recently some expeditions of man have reached this sacred place, and the defenders of the land have been sent forth to destroy all whom invade their land. Unfortunately all of the attempts at making kroxigor spawning pools in this land have failed miserably. Suffering from the need for such battle prowess as carried by these beasts of burden, the slaan of the land have taught their skink mages to bind the spirits of long fallen saurus heroes to the lava that runs so freely through their land. These lavamen arise from the many volcano temples strewn about the island to defend their cities when threatened by invading warm bloods.

My 2 cents:
Looks good apart from the character & saurus selection. The jaguard charm oldblood is stupidly good (if you're not running slann and have the lord slot available), so I'd definetly swap the non-bsb scar vet for that. As you have no warmachine hunters, the jaguar hero will come in handy in that role apart from many other uses. I'd also give the bsb a ward save (or a cold one for better armor at least) and only after that think about some magic weapon. The priests mark would serve jaguar oldblood far better. I'd probably stick with cube/scroll or two and diadem with the priests. I also think that the saurus have too much stuff. Two units of 20 vanilla saurus should do just fine (with the huanchi banner sprinkled in if you want), which should give you enough points for upgrading the other scar-vet to oldblood.

Your list looks great, and the concept is cool. I hope you've got a colorful paint scheme planned!
Ditto the call for a jaguar vet, and the Old Ones on the jaguar vet.
Also agree on stripping down the marks on the Saurus and reducing to 20, but use the points for more troops rather than more character bling. Scouting a second unit of Skinks would do you well, or once the Saurus are core without the Marks, try to squeeze in a third unit of Kroxis (by reducing one existing unit to 3).
More troops is always better, and upping your amount of faster-moving Kroxes will help deal with your slower movement vs. maneuver armies.
Otherwise, very solid list!

saurus and such are best run in ranks of 6 now, so dropping down those units wouldn't make too much sense. also the skinks are pretty good warmachine hunters as far as i'm concerned. they never have done me wrong. oh and the color scheme is more lava field rather than luau hawaiian kinda stuff. to me they should look like big lizards that would blend into a lavafield rather than some of the long lost blue man group cousins.
i hart the JSOD, yes it's great, but everybody does it. vanilla is not my favorite flavor, so i am doing something way unconventional on purpose.
the mark of the old ones point is good, but i dunno bout putting it on anyone else. i just don't see the worth on heroes, and to me i need as much bonus to majiks as i can get for a lizardman army. i'll prolly just drop it all together.
the sacred spawnings on the unit are super amazing too. i could drp them though, buy scouts for another skink unit, and then add a ward save to my BSB, but his sword allows him to always strike first, killing enemies who can stirke him back, and make some extra combat res on the enemies charge.
finally kroxes need to be in units of 4. without that extra man they just don't have the hitting power to win any combat. on average they will get 6 hits and 5 kills (that's with 4) the 3 would get only 3-4. against any standard large block, that's 3 ranks, banner, outnumber, and possibly a wound. with a musician the block always wins.

not a huge change to the list, but i took into account the suggestion for a ward save on the BSB. My question is which one is better, Aura of Quetzl, or the Glyph Necklace? They both have their ups and downs. also unless someone can give me a better suggestion for what to do with the points i spent on sacred spawnings of the units, then i'm leaving them as is.
ok so if you can give me a good argument to change it there are some things i would be willing to drop, but give me something better to put in to replace it that isn't the same old JSOD, etc. so i could drop the sacred spawnings on both saurus units, drop huanchi's blessed totem, and 6 saurus off of each unit. some things i was thinking of maybe adding were some teradons, or maybe a third four strong kroxigor unit? well lemme know what you think i should do
