Background
The war in the cadian system has cost the cadians a lot of lives, tanks and ships, but has also given them more insight of how to win battles. For example; Specialised regiments consisting of Drop Troops and Quick response units, and mechanised regiments aswell as stealthy regiments. The 501st Planetary Assault Regiment is one of those specialised regiments. They are known for their discipline and finesse in Planetary combat, especially in urban or snowy terrains. This regiment is specialised in Fast paced planetary assault with quick unit deployment in the field and taking down the main objectives to allow for more troops to land. They makes extensive use of storm troopers to get to the objectives quickly and take over important enemy positions or taking out commanders or special targets. All units hard disciplined and their faith in the emperor is mandatory. They deploy quickly in the heat of battle so they are almost always protected by extra armor bacause they will take extra hits while they land. The 501st PAR's strength's lie in the " they dont know what hit 'em " tactic, they deploy fast, without warning, and before the enemy realises it theyre hit hard with light vehicles and Orbital bombardment and hundreds of elite troopers charge in, led by the feared stormtroopers. Sometimes when the objective is important enough they even deploy heavy armor or artillery units to support the squads of elite guardsmen and secure the objectives. They can either be seen as a small insertion force, in some cases, or as a standard imperial guard army because they deploy almost all units, however they do tend to use as much of the latest technology as possibly to win their battles.
Colours and habbits
The 501st PAR ground forces are usually dressed in a variation of grey outfits ( black for the officers ) and darker grey armor. They have red right shoulder pads with their 501st Regimental number on it, they are proud to be who they are and like to show it to any and all they encounter! Officers have black right shoulder pads also with the 501st Regimental number on it. The stormtroopers use a more camoflaged pattern made up of a mixture of greys to represent theyre status, the 501st PAR is greatly famed for it's elite stormtroopers and shock troops and these form the mainstay of the regiment, the stormtroopers are especially valued and as such are distinctive looking from the rest of the army. The tanks are made up of a variaty of darker greys in a straight or camoflaged pattern with mettalic looks to them.
