Subject: Traits for Drop Pod Marines

Hi,
Wondering what the conventional wisdom is on the best traits for Drop Podding Marines.
Generally accepted that "Cleanse & Purify" (second special weapon) is required - but what about a second trait.
I was going to split 6 Tactical squads into two groups of three - the first with bolters and twin plasma; the second with BP + CCW and melta/flamer. This requires taking "Take the Fight to Them".
After some thinking I'm wondering whether I might not be better dropping TTFTT and replacing with "Trust Your Battle Brothers" which for 3 points gives Counterattack and True Grit.
Effectively gives me more bolter shots but also spreads CC prowess more evenly across the army.
My squads are 8 man.
Rest of the army is Librarian with FotD and FotA and 4 man 2x AC Termie Squad plus twin Assault Dreads with Heavy Flamer upgrade. All units in pods.
Any constructive feedback/comment appreciated.
B

Personally I run Trust your battle brother, and it's awesome.
I get to rapid fire the turn I come down. If I get charged I still get to counter attack and get plenty of attacks.
That aside I've heard of people doing it with BP and CCW and furious assault. But it seems like furious assault would get wasted.

Oh if you do go for the vennie dread in a pod here's a neat trick
Pop smoke whn you land then your as hard to kill as a falcon. Next turn you flame and assault.

It's true, but the chances are low that you'll never get you pod.
Sometimes a pod landing last turn can be a godsend on objective missions.

Trust in your battle brothers is statistically inferior to either Purity Above All or Take the Fight to 'em.
Shooting army takes apothecaries or dreadnoughts and plasmas/meltas, assaulty army takes bp/ccw and meltas/flamers.
Apoths with terminators and plasmaguns is the best bet for a shootie-focused army.

Longshot,
Is there a previous thread that goes into this? I couldn't find one.
Interested in the numbers that indicate the relative merits.
Thanks

I'm with Aristotle on using Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients - not that you need to run 6 Dreadnoughts to make it worthwhile, but simply the fact that you can run multiple Ven Dreads in drop pods makes it worth taking if you're going a Dread route.

Ok, I field a 'Company' of Marines with Drop pods.
For around 250 points, you get the 'Counter Assault-True Grit' on 10 Marines, a 'Deathwind' on the DP, a Melta Gun, Sarge with P-fist and Bolter.
I have played for years, and in my experience, with 5 DP's landing(?)-you are gong to kick some butt.
Just my experience is all.
