Mission: Each Table Quarter is worth 5 Points.
Deployment: Table Quarters

I win the dice roll for table quarter, and I pick the quarter with a big forest and a large field of fire. I thought I would deploy everything in the corner, and my Mystics will protect me from his Drop Pods.

Set up:
He puts his Predators behind a woods, his LRC as close as possible with Grimaldus and the EC inside of it, and his Assault Marines and the Chaplain behind it. I put my Dreadnoughts behind my woods. I put my Inquisitor Lord in the Forest with my two Chimeras flanking him. Since all I will be able to shot at is AV 13+ I decide to Deep Strike all of my Grey Knights.

We roll for Emperor’s Tarot and we end up both rolling a ‘5’ so he gets +1 to the die roll to go first. That is the first time that I have ever tied that roll.
Turn #1 With the help of the Emperor’s Tarot, he gets ends up getting first turn.

Black Templar Turn #1
He moves his LRC 12” forward and pops smoke. He moves up his Assault Squad behind it. The LRC blocks one of his Predators and the other one fails to penetrate one of my Chimeras.

Demon Hunter Turn #1
I move my Dreadnoughts forward into the forest and my Dreadnought (Rusty) shoots and kills his Predator with a glancing 6. My Dreadnought (Old Blue) penetrates his LRC, but because of the smoke it glances and just shakes it (rats!).

Black Templar Turn #2
He gets both Drop Pods in and tried to drop on my right flank. His first DP scatters 9” back and is out of Mystic range. The second one only scatters a little and he gets rewarded by a fusillade from my Inquisitor killing around 5. He drives LRC up another 12”, and disembarks Grimaldus and his crew, but they are over 6” away from my Inquisitor and just stands there.

Demon Hunter Turn #2
I get the 6-man GK squad with Psycannons, and since he has a Predator in the middle of nowhere, I deepstrike into his deployment zone to take it out with rear shots, but I roll bad and only take out its TL Lacannon and Stun it. I also get my 5-man GK squad with the Incinerators and deepstrike near his Assault Marines and do 5 wound which he saves. I unload on Grimaldus with my Inquisitor and I disembark my Plasma Gun Storm Troopers and kill a disappointing 4 models total. My Dreadnought (Rusty) on the right shoots the DP squad and that is down to 5 guys and kills 2 from shooting and whiffs when I assault them. My 2 other Dreadnoughts shoot at the LRC and fail to penetrate it.

Black Templar Turn #3
His stunned Predator hides behind a forest and points the front at my GKs. His LRC shoots at my Dreadnought (Old Blue) and penetrates twice with its AC but I make my obscure rolls and it only gets stunned, then he penetrates it with the Melta Gun and immobilizes it. His Chaplain chucks his Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch at my GK Incinerator squad and kills all 5 of them. The Assault Marines go after both my Chimera and my Storm troopers, and the EC goes after them as well, killing them all. The EC then consolidates into my Grandmaster. Grimaldus assaults my Inquisitor and retune and I kill 2 of his Cenobytes, and he kills all of my retinue except the Inquisitor.

Demon Hunter Turn #3
I get my last GK squad. I land in the middle of the board and shoot at his Assault squad killing 2. My Dreadnoughts are getting hurt, and as an act of desperation I tank shock the Assault Marines (that were in the way to get to the LRC) with my last Chimera and the Assault Marines death or glory with a melta bomb and only roll a 1 with the penetrating hit and it lives! Whew! I get out my Storm Troopers and shoot my one Melta Gun at the LRC and roll a ‘3’ to hit and ‘8’ to penetrate and a ‘4’ for the result killing it! Yeah! Grimaldus kills my Inquisitor and consolidates into my immobilized dreadnought (Old Blue). His Emperor’s Champion does 2 wounds to my Grandmaster, and the Grandmaster slays the EC. My Dreadnought (Rusty) that is still locked up with the DP squad finally kills one marine, and he loses another do to being outnumbered 5-1.

Black Templar Turn #4
He moved his Predator up to shoot at the GKs that are back in his deployment zone to help out the shrouding roll. His Assault Squad goes after my Storm Troopers and my last Dreadnought (Lefty) killing both and consolidating into my Grandmaster. My other Dreadnought (Old Blue) is locked up with Grimaldus. He charged his last Drop Pod Squad into the Dreadnought (Rusty) that is still trying to kill the first Drop Pod Squad but he fails to penetrate it. His Chaplain charged my last GK squad that just deepstuck and he killed all 5.

Demon Hunter Turn #4
My Assassin finally comes in.

Now I have to take stock of everything and see how many scoring units he has left. He has a Predator in his deployment zone that my Chimera will get side shots on. The Assault Marines are down to 5 guys, and my Grandmaster needs to kill 2 of them to take them below scoring. Grimaldus is no longer scoring, so if all goes well, all he will have left is his 10 man Drop Pod squad.

I have my GK squad in his deployment zone, and my dreadnought tangled up with his Drop Pod Squads.

So I have to place my Assassin to try to keep my Dreadnought (Rusty) alive, and kill his Drop Pod squad. She charges in and ends up killing 3 marines +1 for poison blades, and my Dreadnought kills the last of the first Drop Pod Squad. My Grandmaster kills 3 Assault Marines, but dies in return. My Chimera only hits his Predator with a Heavy Bolter and does nothing.

Black Templar Turn #5
The Chaplain and the Assault Marines head to the Dreadnought (Rusty) fight and his Predator hides. I kill a couple of marines bringing him below scoring.

Demon Hunter Turn #5
I kill some more Marines and he is down to one Marine left.

Black Templar Turn #6
He charges the Assassin with the Chaplain and the Dreadnought with the Assault Squad. I chose to attack the last marine with a power fist because I wanted to keep the Dreadnought alive (I did not know the Chaplain had a power fist too). So the Assassin kills the last Marine, and the Dreadnought finally rolls well and kills both of the Assault Marines. The Chaplain kills my Assassin. Grimaldius finally kills the Dreadnought (Old Blue) he was assaulting.

Demon Hunter Turn #6
All there is left is for my Dreadnought to survive the Chaplains Power Fist attacks, and I do (I lost to weapons!).


So at the end of the game He had one Predator in his deployment zone contested by my GK squad and I had my weaponless Dreadnought holding the one quarter for the Minor Win!

I might have done better if I just Deep Striked my GKs into each table quarter, and see if he can chase them down.

It was my Dreadnought Rusty though that was the games MVP. Not only did he kill the Predator, but he survived countless powerfist attacks.

So I went 2-1 with my Demonhunters, and had some fun.

Nice report, the game looked like fun indeed.

Well played Blackmoor. It is amazing how you finagle wins with that crazy list of yours. I remember when you won a league with that army.

It was an amazing game. 8 rounds of powerfist attacks and that friggen dreadnought just would not die....lol. I just kept rolling low either on pentration rolls or when I'd roll on the damage table it would always turn up as a 1 or 2. Oh well. It was a great game and it was pretty much a blood bath.

Since when does Grimaldus have a PF

Grimaldus doesn't have a powerfist, but one model in his Command Squad had one.

His other Chaplian did have a Powerfist though.
