If a shooting unit is 4" deep in area terrain, and the target unit is 3" in another area terrain. Can the shooting unit see the target unit?

In other words can you see out up to 6" of the terrain your in and up to 6" of the terrain your target is in? Or is it 6" of area terrain in total, so in the above case the LOS is blocked.

It's 6 contigiuous inches. So if you're 5" deep and he's 5" deep you can still shoot him and he can shoot you.
